The Faculty of Journalism and Communication (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) is one of the two largest media training institutions in Vietnam, training in two majors: Journalism and Public Relations, and has all three levels of training in Journalism from bachelor to doctorate. This is also one of the first journalism training institutions in Vietnam to cooperate with Stirling University (UK) to organize a joint training program for master's degrees in Media Management awarded by Stirling University.
In addition to classes in Hanoi, the Faculty also organizes many work-study classes in localities, from Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City... to Ca Mau. In addition to the basic knowledge of social culture inherited from the leading university in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities, the Faculty's students are equipped with basic and professional journalism knowledge from a team of highly qualified lecturers, many of whom were trained abroad (former Soviet Union, UK, Australia, Korea, Sweden,...) and many famous experts and journalists invited by the Faculty to teach. The equipment system was invested with nearly 30 billion VND (phase 1) in 2010 and nearly 30 billion VND (phase 2) in 2015, creating opportunities for students to practice and produce journalism products like miniature newspaper offices.
Over the past 25 years, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication has trained thousands of journalists, media specialists, public relations officers, and officials for central and local press management agencies. Many students of the Faculty have become famous journalists, and many hold leadership positions in press agencies and press management agencies.
The 25th anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication will be held on October 2, 2015 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The 25th anniversary of the Faculty's establishment is not only an occasion to foster pride in the Faculty's tradition, but also an opportunity to connect generations of students and lecturers in the Faculty with the aim of building and developing the Faculty to achieve more success in the future./.
