1. Collaborative and coordinated activities within the trade union have been carried out by the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Science.

Based on recent years' trade union experience, the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Sciences would like to share some collaborative and coordinated activities that have been implemented by the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Sciences:

1.1 Internal Linking

In coordination with the Youth Union of cadres, we will train and recommend outstanding Party members.

In coordination with the Youth Union of staff, organize professional activities, especially those for young union members.

  • Encourage and organize activities to facilitate union members in completing their theses and dissertations on time: organize feedback sessions for union members presenting the content of their theses and dissertations, etc.
  • We care for and create favorable conditions for young lecturers to develop in scientific research and teaching activities. To date, the Faculty's Trade Union and Youth Union have published one scientific research journal by young lecturers, 100% of young lecturers are independently teaching two subjects, and have at least one article/conference paper published annually in their specialized field.
  • Providing support and creating opportunities for young lecturers to increase their income through professional activities such as document translation, etc.
  • Combine this with organizing specialized seminars:"The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the results of border demarcation"Presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hang (October 2013); Sharing experiences in doctoral research with union members preparing for doctoral exams (December 2013); Experiences in international publications (November 2015),…

Coordinate with the Student Union to organize union activities and movements.

  • In collaboration with the Youth Union of staff, we organize field trips and excursions at the beginning of spring, as well as activities to commemorate International Women's Day (March 8th), Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20th), Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20th), etc.

2. Assessing the effectiveness of collaboration and coordination in trade union activities.

Through the practical implementation of collaborative and coordinated activities, the Trade Union of the Faculty of Management Sciences has observed the following benefits:

  • Leverage and utilize resources effectively:Coordination and collaboration within trade unions help to effectively utilize the organization's resources—human, financial, material, and intellectual. Given the current limited resources, thorough cooperation, both internally and externally, is particularly effective in trade union activities.
  • Harnessing the power of unity:When working together and coordinating activities, members of an organization have the opportunity to share and support each other, thereby strengthening human bonds and connecting different departments within the organization. The trade union is not a separate entity from other departments in the organization, such as the youth union or the office, but rather a genuine collaboration for the common good of the collective.
  • Spreading values:It is clear that collaboration and coordination in activities have the potential to spread positive values more effectively than independent organization of union activities. For example, activities with the theme "From the battlefield to the lecture hallThe event, jointly organized by the Faculty of Management Science and the Faculty of Philosophy, has had a very positive effect on the contemporary generation in terms of awareness and gratitude towards their ancestors.
  • Creating opportunities for interaction and learning among departmental unions:For various reasons, it is not easy for more than 500 union members in the university to have many opportunities to share expertise and other issues. The collaboration between departmental unions creates excellent opportunities for exchange and learning, as demonstrated through joint activities between the Faculty of Management Science union and the unions of the Philosophy, Archival Studies and Office Administration, Information and Library Science faculties, etc.

3. Some lessons learned from the experience of collaboration and coordination in trade union activities.

The collaboration and coordination in trade union activities have clearly yielded many positive results, as discussed. However, arranging such joint activities in practice is by no means simple, especially the collaboration and coordination between different departmental trade unions.

Here are some lessons we would like to share to improve the quality of trade union activities through collaboration and coordination:

  • Collaboration and coordination should be identified as a regular method in trade union activities.Currently, the number of departmental trade unions with which the Faculty of Management Science's trade union has collaborative activities is limited and lacks diversity in terms of collaboration forms. These collaborations are primarily professional and seasonal, failing to form a network and establish regular connections.
  • Proactive collaboration and coordination among departmental trade unions are necessary. To achieve this, coordinated organizational plans need to be established at the beginning of the period, clearly outlining the content of collaboration and coordination.
  • Flexibility in organizing activities (form, time, location, etc.)Organizing union activities often presents many difficulties because union members are responsible for many tasks and have limited time. Furthermore, the majority of union members are women, which also poses a significant challenge in organizing union activities. This needs to be taken into account in collaborative and coordinated efforts to ensure the effectiveness of the activities.

Organize activities based on the needs of union members:Ultimately, all trade union activities, including organizational collaboration and coordination, are aimed at benefiting union members and the collective good. Therefore, these activities must stem from the needs and aspirations of union members. Only then will trade union activities truly be engaging. The interest and participation of union members.
