The 2012-2017 term was a period in which the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi), continuously developed and achieved many successes in various aspects and fields of work. The University's Trade Union has become a reliable organization for the teaching staff and employees, a bridge between the University's Party Committee and the teaching staff and employees, and a trusted partner of the professional organization.

Constantly innovating the content of activities.

One of the key factors contributing to these successes is the close attention and guidance received by the University's Trade Union, the Vietnam National University Hanoi Trade Union, and the Vietnam Education Trade Union; the close cooperation and support from the University's Board of Directors and unit leaders; the agreement and participation of all union members; and the enthusiastic and responsible efforts of trade union officials at all levels.

To meet the demands of the new situation, the Trade Union constantly innovates its activities, with many activities focusing on depth to motivate and encourage the staff and employees to work wholeheartedly with the highest sense of responsibility to complete their tasks. Considering the welfare of union members as its top priority, for many years the Trade Union has coordinated with the government in developing internal spending regulations, policies, and reward systems for staff and employees, contributing to ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of workers. The average income of staff and employees in 2016 reached over 11 million VND/month. For staff and employees in difficult circumstances, the Trade Union provides various forms of support. On November 20th or during the Lunar New Year, the School's Trade Union provides assistance or organizes visits to encourage, wish, and give gifts to families in difficult circumstances. In 2013, the School's Trade Union was established.Humanitarian FundThe fund aims to encourage and assist staff members with special circumstances or serious illnesses. Over three years of operation, the fund has supported 18 union members with a total of 131 million VND. To foster connections and solidarity among units, the Women's Committee of the University's Trade Union regularly organizes activities such as field trips, cooking competitions, and flower arranging contests. They also hold seminars and provide advice on beauty and health care for female members.

Annually, the University's Trade Union, in coordination with the Board of Directors, directs, guides, and encourages units to organize staff and employee conferences. Through these forums, staff and employees directly participate in the development of unit regulations and rules, thereby effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of employees.

Promote emulation movements.

Recognizing the patriotic emulation movement as a particularly important political task because it is closely linked to the training and research results of the School, from the beginning of the term, the School's Trade Union has included the patriotic emulation movement as one of the six key tasks in the Executive Committee's overall activity program, with the goal of effectively promoting the movement, such as the "Emulation Movement"."Excellent worker", “Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”, “Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning."To ensure that the emulation movement becomes a mass movement and yields high results, every year, during the Staff and Faculty Conference, the School's Trade Union Executive Committee summarizes and launches the emulation movement among all staff and faculty."

To ensure maximum effectiveness, immediately after the 29th Congress, the University's Trade Union issued important documents such as the Operating Regulations, the Regulations on Emulation and Commendation, and the Regulations on Coordination of Activities between the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the University's Trade Union... These are the internal legal basis for the University's Trade Union to implement its activities in accordance with regulations and guidelines from higher-level trade unions. With a scientific and systematic approach, the University's Trade Union has affirmed its role and position with the leadership and employees, attracting many staff members to participate in trade union activities and fostering their commitment to the organization. With the belief that dedicated, responsible, and professionally competent union officials are essential for driving union activities, the University's Trade Union has paid special attention to building, training, and developing a team of union officials through training courses and professional development programs on specialized skills such as the fundamentals of the Labor Code, the Trade Union Law, the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union, the organization of trade union congresses, and women's affairs. In practice, the team of union officials has increasingly demonstrated higher qualifications, operational skills, dedication, and responsibility towards the movement, making them a crucial factor in implementing the Executive Committee's programs and resolutions, as well as other union activities.

- As of February 2017, the total number of union members at the University was 530, a 10% increase compared to 2012. The ratio of union members to employees reached 98.2%. Currently, the University has 11 lecturers with the title of Professor/Doctor and 95 Associate Professors/Doctors, 128 staff members with PhD degrees and 215 with Master's degrees. 100% of lecturers are committed to striving to achieve a doctoral degree or higher.

- Over the past 5 years, the University's Trade Union has consistently achieved the title of "Excellent and Strong Trade Union Branch"; received the Comprehensive Emulation Flag from the Vietnam Education Trade Union (2012, 2013), from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (2014), Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training (2015). In 2016, the University's Trade Union was recommended by the Emulation and Commendation Council of Vietnam National University, Hanoi to the President of Vietnam for the First Class Labor Medal.
