Humanistic Youth: Dynamic - Creative - Courageous - Integrated

Attending the second session of the Congress on the morning of March 18 were Mr. Trinh Minh Thai, Deputy Chief of the Central Office of the Youth Union; Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Van Huong, member of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Labor Union, Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department, VNU; Mr. Hoang Dinh Luong, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of VNU; on the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University; Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University; along with representatives of the Party Committee, Board of Directors, Labor Union, departments, centers, Party cells of faculties/departments and nearly 200 delegates representing about 6,000 union members of the University.

The Congress listened to the Summary Report of the Youth Union and Youth Movement of the School for the term 2014 - 2017 and the direction of activities for the term 2017 - 2019.

In the last term, the Youth Union and the youth movement of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have achieved comprehensive results in all activities. The targets of the whole term have been basically completed, including many excellent targets. The action programs of the University's youth have been actively and effectively implemented, contributing to improving the quality of training, training ethics, political ideology for union members and young people. In the 2014 - 2017 term, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Youth Union continued to be the leading unit in the movements of the VNU Youth Union and the Hanoi Youth Union. In 2015, the University's youth were honored to receive the Emulation Flag for leading the Youth Union movement of universities, academies, and colleges, and in 2016, they received the Emulation Flag for three consecutive years from the Central Youth Union.

During the 2017 - 2019 term, the youth of the School will continue to affirm the pioneering position of the Youth Union in the political system of the School, promote tradition, affirm the leading role in the VNU Youth Union movement, gradually promote the unit's social sciences and humanities expertise in the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement, build a strong and stable Youth Union, meet the needs of union members and students; actively contribute to the overall development of the School.

Accordingly, the direction of activities for the next term is to attach importance to political and ideological education, personality training for union members and students; link union members' activities with the core tasks of the University and VNU; focus on supporting union members and students to develop comprehensively on the basis of promoting the effective role of union members and staff, improving the quality of Union Affairs, Association Affairs, and branch activities; create an atmosphere of solidarity and exchange, build a humane student style with great ambitions, promote the spirit of entrepreneurship to build a youthful, disciplined, and civilized school environment, strengthen foreign affairs activities, and affirm the role of the school's youth in the community.

In the 2017 - 2019 term, the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took the slogan: "Youth of Humanities: Dynamic - Creative - Courageous - Integrated".

The new Executive Committee for the 2017-2019 term was introduced to the congress.

Speaking at the Congress, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Party Committee Secretary and Vice Rector of the University, acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of the University Youth Union to the overall development of the University in particular and of VNU in general. At the same time, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University highly appreciated the achievements of the University's youth in implementing two programs: political and ideological education, moral and lifestyle orientation for union members and cultural, sports and art activities, volunteering to join the community.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2017-2019 term, consisting of 21 members. Comrade Tran Bach Hieu (Faculty of Political Science) was elected as Secretary of the University Youth Union, comrades Tran Duc Hoa (Faculty of Library Information) and Ta Thi Bich Ngoc (Faculty of Management Science) were elected as Deputy Secretaries of the University Youth Union.
