Over two days (December 27th and 28th, 2013), the Standing Committee and the Women's Committee of the University's Trade Union participated in activities to visit and present gifts to teachers and students in difficult circumstances in Hoa Binh province and the seminar "Innovating Women's Union Activities in the New Era" together with the Trade Unions of five universities (Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, University of Natural Sciences, and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering).
The school's labor union presented gifts to students and teachers in Hoa Binh.
Attending the event were representatives from the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the 5 Schools, the Standing Committee and the Women's Committee of the Trade Union of the 5 Schools. Our School's delegation consisted of 6 members, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Chairman of the Trade Union.
This is an annual activity of the cluster of 5 University Trade Unions, making an important contribution to strengthening cooperative relationships and leveraging the combined strength of the 5 universities in jointly helping teachers and students in remote and disadvantaged areas. At the same time, through this practical activity, it helps union members from each university gain a deeper understanding of the spirit of mutual support and compassion, caring for the cause of education in mountainous and remote areas in particular and national education in general.
The delegation visited two locations: Na Phon Primary School in Na Phon commune, Mai Chau district, and Cao Son Secondary School in Da Bac district, both of which are still facing many difficulties in education. The Trade Union of Cluster 5 Schools presented 108 gifts to teachers and 320 gifts to students. Each gift for teachers was worth 500,000 VND and for students 300,000 VND. The total value of the gifts included 150 million VND and 12 boxes of clothing, books, and school supplies.
In conjunction with supporting education in mountainous and remote areas of Hoa Binh province, the Trade Union of Cluster 5 Universities organized a Women's Affairs Workshop with the theme "Innovating Women's Affairs Activities in the New Era". The workshop heard five reports from representatives of the Women's Affairs Committees of the five universities on specific topics such as: the role of the Women's Affairs Committee in implementing autonomy in universities (Women's Affairs Committee of the Trade Union of the National Economics University), the role of the Women's Affairs Committee in building and implementing the University Culture Regulations (Women's Affairs Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), the Women's Affairs Committee in training and improving the professional skills of female staff and employees (Women's Affairs Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Natural Sciences), the Women's Affairs Committee in scientific research (Women's Affairs Committee of the Trade Union of Hanoi University of Technology), and the Women's Affairs Committee in population and family planning (Women's Affairs Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Construction).
The workshop heard many speeches and lively discussions from the participating delegates. All aimed at a common goal: comprehensive reform of the Women's Committee's activities, making a significant contribution to the reform of trade union activities in particular and the fundamental and comprehensive reform of the national education system in general.
