During the meeting, Ms. Anke Stahl introduced the project to develop a network of alumni – those who have received scholarships from the DAAD Foundation during their studies and research. DAAD aims to establish and expand this alumni network to maintain academic and skills exchange, sharing learning and research experiences among members; to help future students benefit from the experience and knowledge of their predecessors; and thereby expand opportunities for academic exchange between German universities and other countries, contributing to the internationalization of higher education in Germany. Members of the network will participate in various activities, exchange information on new scientific trends, especially research on Germany. This relationship aims for sustainable collaboration, enhanced research capabilities and knowledge sharing, and the contributions of network members to development goals.
Ms. Anke Stahl also stated that she wanted to understand the needs and desires of alumni through their feedback; to learn about their contributions to the universities and how the universities utilize these alumni in school development activities. Based on this, DAAD will establish the basic operational guidelines for the network as well as for the DAAD fund. She also provided information on the latest DAAD doctoral scholarship support in 2014.
