Attending this special event were officials from the Venezuelan Embassy in Vietnam, representatives of the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association, leaders of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, and leaders of several functional departments.
Jean Carlos Zambrano Estrada, a Venezuelan national, was a student in the QH-2010-X cohort of the Vietnamese Studies program. He achieved excellent academic results and graduated early, becoming the first Venezuelan citizen to receive a regular university degree from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Besides his academic achievements, Carlos was also an active participant in the general activities of the international student community of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language.
On behalf of the university leadership, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim congratulated the new student on his achievement and expressed his hope that Jean Carlos Zambrano Estrada would use the knowledge imparted at the university to contribute to promoting friendly cooperation between the two countries. Given the long-standing and successful cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela, cooperation in science and education between universities in the two countries should be strengthened. This forms the basis for mutual understanding between the two nations and their younger generations.
Mr. Jean Carlos Zambrano Estrada (Second Secretary of the Venezuelan Embassy in Vietnam) presented the school with a photograph of General Vo Nguyen Giap and President Hugo Chavez.
Ambassador Jorge Rondon Uzcategui expressed his delight at the event of the first Venezuelan student receiving a distinction degree at Vietnam's leading center for social sciences and humanities – a place that has trained many ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats. The Ambassador believes this will be a good start, and in the future, more Venezuelan citizens will learn Vietnamese language and culture, bridging the gap between the two cultures and two countries.
The Ambassador also pledged to support the development of cooperative relations between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and its Venezuelan partners. In the future, the Venezuelan Embassy will promote the signing of formal cooperation agreements between universities of the two countries, and facilitate the establishment of Vietnamese-Venezuelan cultural and linguistic exchange centers.
