The Vietnamese Proficiency Test at VNU-USSH attracts students from many countries

The exam attracted nearly 90 foreign candidates from many different countries such as Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan (China), Ukraine, Russia... The exam includes 4 skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking. Candidates take the Listening, Reading and Writing tests on the computer. For the Speaking skill, candidates take the test directly with the instructor in a separate exam room.
The Listening test consists of 4 parts: Part 1 - Candidates listen to a question or a situation and then choose the correct answer; Part 2, 3, 4 - Candidates listen to a conversation or a text and then choose the correct answer.
The Reading Comprehension test consists of 40 questions. Candidates read the excerpts and then choose the correct answer.
The Writing test consists of 3 parts: Part 1 - Listening and dictation; Part 2 - Responding to a letter; Part 3 - Writing an essay.
The Speaking test consists of 3 parts: Part 1 - Answer the questions; Part 2 - Discuss and choose one of the given options; Part 3 - Candidates talk about a general topic or a given academic topic, can use the provided ideas or develop their own ideas).

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has more than 50 years of tradition in teaching Vietnamese for foreigners and is one of the few official addresses assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to organize Vietnamese proficiency tests for foreigners. From 2023, VNU-USSH will for the first time introduce the Assessment Standards and tests to assess Vietnamese proficiency for foreign students on the computer system. Organizing the Vietnamese proficiency test for foreigners in the form of a computer-based test will help the assessment activity to be comprehensive, flexible and agile in organization and implementation, creating more favorable conditions for those who want to take the assessment test.
