Summary of union activities in the 2014-2015 school year

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Chairman of the School's Trade Union, is presenting a summary report on trade union activities for the 2014-2015 school year.

Attending the conference were Associate Professor Dr. Tran Van Quy, Vice President of VNU Trade Union, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, President of Trade Unions of units and outstanding union members of the University.

Representing the School's Trade Union Executive Committee, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Chairman of the School's Trade Union - presented a summary report on the trade union activities in the 2014-2015 school year. The report stated that in the past school year, the trade union had carried out many practical activities such as: taking care of the lives, protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the staff and workers; participating in building harmonious and stable labor relations; implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies; developing the team of teachers and educational managers; organizing patriotic emulation movements, large-scale social campaigns among the staff and workers; innovating the content and methods of trade union activities, improving the quality of the staff and the effectiveness of the activities of education trade unions at all levels, building strong trade unions, participating in building a clean and strong Party....

In addition, the report also provided specific directions for union work in the 2015-2016 school year as follows:

Firstly, coordinate with the government to encourage staff and lecturers to strive to complete their tasks for the school year, strengthen the training of qualified staff, and speed up the development of the school into a research university.

Second, strengthen the education of union members on national pride, patriotism and national sovereignty; strictly comply with the Party and State's policies and guidelines, thoroughly grasp the educational innovation policy according to Resolution 8 of the 11th Central Committee.

Third, continue activities to strengthen discipline in work, teaching and learning, build a modern and integrated school culture on the basis of maintaining national cultural identity.

Fourth, continue to pay more attention to improving the material and spiritual life of cadres and civil servants.

Fifth, organize practical activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the school's founding and 70th anniversary of its tradition.

Sixth, successfully complete the task of hosting the activities of the union cluster of 5 universities with the theme of union in the issue of building research universities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice Principal of the School, awarded the trade union groups with good achievements last year.

The conference then discussed and sought union members' comments on the Draft Revised Penal Code. After the conference, the union continued to receive comments on the draft until August 28, 2015.

In the past school year, the School Union as well as the unions of the units have performed their functions and tasks well, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of the school year's tasks. With these contributions, many groups and individuals have been commended and awarded certificates of merit by union leaders at all levels:

– 03 certificates of merit for the collective from the Chairman of the VNU Trade Union

– 08 certificates of merit for groups and 79 certificates of merit for individuals from the School's Trade Union Executive Committee.
