Attending the conference were comrade Duong Van Ba - Deputy Director of the Department of Student Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, representatives of leaders, officers in charge and officers and specialists working on student affairs at member units and units under VNU.
Accordingly, in the 2014-2015 school year, the student affairs have been regularly and directly directed by the leaders of VNU and heads of units through management documents and instructions issued in a timely and punctual manner; The student affairs management has become increasingly systematic, actively supporting the training work and improving the training quality; Career guidance and support to improve the employability of students have been implemented with many innovations in content and form, diverse and flexible according to the characteristics of each unit and profession, bringing certain effectiveness; The task of building a cultural environment and caring for the lives of students has really gone into depth, bringing effectiveness and practical benefits to students. The student affairs in the past year have contributed significantly to the successful implementation of the political tasks of VNU and the petitions.
In the 2015-2016 school year, VNU identified a number of key tasks of student affairs as follows:
- Continue to innovate the methods of disseminating and guiding the implementation of directive documents of the Party, the State, the Ministry of Education and Training and VNU for students. Actively respond to major movements of the country, the education sector and VNU to bring practical results in learning and training activities.
- Strengthen legal education for students. Continue to do a good job of political, ideological, ethical and lifestyle education for students.
- Continue to innovate student affairs and student management in the direction of standardization, modernization, efficiency, practicality, and in accordance with the development strategy of VNU and each unit.
- Implement many appropriate solutions and forms to further improve the real effectiveness of student support work; provide advice and support for student employment; link training with social needs; increase opportunities for exchange between students and employers, especially large and reputable companies and enterprises at home and abroad. Continue to promote the work of monitoring students after graduation to become a disciplined and orderly activity. Synchronously deploy the alumni network at all member and affiliated training units to attract support in all aspects for students.
- Exploit and effectively use non-budgetary scholarship sources for students. Strengthen international student exchanges to attract more and more foreign students to study and research at VNU as well as create opportunities for VNU students to study and research at prestigious training institutions abroad.
- Strengthen training and improve professional qualifications for staff participating in student affairs at all levels to meet the requirements and tasks of student affairs in the current period.
- Ensure timely periodic reporting, provide statistical data on student affairs of units to VNU.
Delegates attending the conference discussed and exchanged experiences during the implementation process, and proposed solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of student affairs at the unit in the coming time.
Concluding the conference, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Director of VNU Nguyen Kim Son praised the encouraging results of student affairs throughout VNU in the 2014-2015 school year. Deputy Director Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that student affairs is an important part of the work, accounting for a high percentage of evaluation among the criteria and standards for assessing conditions to ensure the quality of higher education in the country and internationally.
Vice President Nguyen Kim Son requested that in the coming time, staff working in student affairs throughout VNU need to continue to create and innovate the student affairs model in the direction of "caring for and serving students"; Review management documents related to this field of work to gradually adjust and amend student affairs regulations; Continue to foster the capacity and skills of staff working in student affairs at member units and affiliated units of VNU; Promote the coordination mechanism between relevant departments, and at the same time, promote student exchange activities to enhance students' skills.
Within the framework of the conference, Mr. Duong Van Ba - Deputy Director of the Department of Student Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training disseminated new documents and discussed and answered a number of issues in the implementation of student affairs.
