Accordingly, the legal position and high autonomy mechanism of VNU have created a favorable mechanism to develop VNU into an advanced research-oriented university; the training of high-quality human resources, nurturing talents; innovation, cutting-edge scientific and technological research, and knowledge transfer have achieved many encouraging achievements. VNU has always been a pioneering training unit, leading the way in contributing to the innovation of Vietnam's higher education system. In 2015, the QS University Rankings (Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings) ranked VNU in the group of 191-200 leading universities in Asia, ranking first among universities in Vietnam. This is the first year that VNU has held the No. 1 position in Vietnam in the QS, Scimago, URAP, Webometric, and 4ICU rankings. Regarding the implementation of the Vietnam-Japan University project, this is the 7th member university of VNU with the goal of becoming an international quality university and a symbol of the good relationship between Vietnam and Japan. Since the decision to establish the Vietnam-Japan University, VNU has been proactively and actively coordinating closely with relevant organizations of Vietnam and Japan to implement the construction and development of the University according to the requirements of the two governments. Up to now, the work of preparing conditions to ensure the quality of the University's operation, enrollment and training organization is taking place according to plan; the work of preparing for investment in the project to build the University in Hoa Lac has made good progress. Appreciating the dedication and important contributions of VNU to the development of the country and praising the achievements of VNU in recent times, President Truong Tan Sang said that the steps taken by VNU have gradually met the new, advanced model, integrated with the world and demonstrated pioneering in innovation in education and training. The President praised the management of VNU in recent years, the staff and students of VNU working together, maintaining the pioneering role of the education sector. VNU has made remarkable progress when being in the group of 191-200 leading universities in Asia; the Vietnam-Japan University project has successfully implemented the initial steps contributing to promoting the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan, these are great efforts of VNU. However, the President noted that there needs to be a stronger breakthrough to build VNU into an advanced university center of regional stature, effectively serving the country's development. The President emphasized that in the context of global integration, the quality of human resources is increasingly required, therefore, as a leading key educational unit in the country, VNU needs to continue to innovate teaching and learning methods; apply advanced teaching models; and bring about outstanding results in the career of cultivating people. Responding to recommendations related to upgrading facilities, especially the project to build VNU in Hoa Lac to create the best conditions for lecturers and students to study and research, the President suggested that VNU should combine the use of available resources, ensuring a synchronous and economical structure. In the immediate future, focus resources on completing the construction of the University of Natural Sciences so that by 2018 it can initially come into operation in Hoa Lac. Although there are still many difficulties in the process of construction and development, VNU needs to continue to synchronously implement both the construction of the school's facilities and the development of training programs. The President requested that the feasibility study (FS) report be quickly completed. The goal of the Vietnam-Japan University is to train human resources with international qualifications. Thereby, it will acquire advanced and modern educational management and university administration technology, thereby spreading to other universities across the country in line with the goal of industrialization and modernization of the country. The President requested ministries and sectors to create favorable conditions in terms of financial mechanisms and resources so that VNU can increasingly improve its training and research work, affirming its position and prestige as a key university and research center of the country, and at the same time having an even higher position among the top universities in Asia and the world. |
