Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasized: Along with the development of the socio-economy, the Social Work sector has been taking important steps to increasingly meet the essential needs set by the socio-economic life itself... Training professional social work staff is essential. First of all, this is the basis to meet the needs of human resource development in social work; at the same time, it can participate in supplementing and developing high-quality professional human resources for other sectors that directly serve other sectors such as health, education, social work, services as well as serving the needs of socio-economic development in Vietnam.
Emphasizing the significance of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities being assigned to train the PhD in Social Work, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh said that with this decision, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has become one of the first two units in the country to be allowed to train the PhD in Social Work. The approval of the PhD in Social Work training program is extremely important because it is the basis for creating a human resource with high qualifications in theory and practice, directly participating in the development and professional development of the community; contributing to the comprehensive improvement of human development; creating the basis for sustainable socio-economic development.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, Head of the Department of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - the unit implementing the PhD training program in Social Work, said that the training of the PhD in Social Work is a continuation of the training of masters and bachelors, marking a very important qualitative change in the training of Social Work in Vietnam; at the same time, she committed to completing the training task well with a high sense of responsibility for the Social Work industry.
At the ceremony, representatives of units under the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs highlighted the significance of the PhD training program in Social Work in the current context; believing that, as a pioneer in training high-quality human resources specializing in Social Work, the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be successful in implementing this training program, contributing to promoting the growth and development of the Social Work science industry in Vietnam.
