Rector Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Established in 1945, the University is currently the leading prestigious university in Vietnam in research and training in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. The University offers 24 undergraduate majors, 40 master's majors and 31 doctoral majors. The training majors range from basic sciences such as History, Literature, Han Nom, Linguistics, Philosophy; to highly applicable majors such as Journalism, Public Relations, Hotel and Tourism Management, Management Science, Social Work, Psychology, Office Management. The Faculty of Oriental Studies - which has the major of Indian Studies - is currently the leading faculty in the whole university in terms of the number of students studying.
Next, the two leaders discussed current issues with social sciences, such as the fact that some fields that were once very developed in the past are no longer holding their position, such as Philosophy, History, and Literature. Some new fields of study such as Politics, Anthropology, and Religion have not received much attention from students because they do not fully understand these fields. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh hopes that the two schools will cooperate to solve the above problems.
Associate Professor Dr. Kalyani Unkule expressed her joy at the development of the Indian Studies training program at USSH. At the same time, she suggested building an Indian cultural center at USSH, as well as a Vietnamese cultural center at Jindal University.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the two sides signed a Memorandum of Friendship and Cooperation. Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Jindal University agreed to promote cultural exchange activities, joint training and research, and scholarships for students between the two schools.
