This course is attended by 30 participants, including lecturers and students from universities, researchers, and overseas Vietnamese – all sharing a passion for teaching Vietnamese to foreigners and to generations of Vietnamese born abroad. The teaching staff consists of professors, associate professors, and doctors with many years of teaching experience both domestically and internationally from the University and the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language.
Throughout the course, participants were equipped with fundamental knowledge of teaching methods and skills, as well as knowledge of the Vietnamese language and culture. They also received practical guidance and shared real-world experiences from experienced teachers. Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to observe a Vietnamese language lesson taught by foreign students. I will apply what I have learned to teaching Vietnamese to Italians, and especially to the generation of Vietnamese born and raised in Italy. The number of people who love and want to learn Vietnamese here is constantly increasing.”

The Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language is a leading institution in Vietnam for training Vietnamese language and culture for foreigners. The department has opened 15 TVSOL (Vietnamese Language and Literature Solidarity) classes in various provinces and cities; plays a key role in supporting the training of Vietnamese language teachers in countries such as Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Taiwan; and participates in establishing Vietnamese Studies centers at foreign universities. Notably, since 2013, the department has been entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training with the professional responsibility of a course on Vietnamese language teaching methods for nearly 200 Vietnamese expatriate students from 15 countries and territories. These are Vietnamese teachers who teach Vietnamese abroad and annually participate in state-organized courses to update their knowledge and further enhance their teaching skills. Due to the diverse educational backgrounds of the students, the Faculty staff took responsibility for developing a customized curriculum focused on flexibility, practicality, and effectiveness, while also directly teaching the classes. The course not only garnered significant attention but was also highly appreciated by the students, giving them the opportunity to connect with their homeland and with the cradle of Vietnamese language and culture, a tradition spanning over half a century. In 2018, the Faculty will continue to offer TVSOL classes at the Kaohsiung Education Department, Taiwan (June 2018), Wenzao University, Taiwan (July 2018), and the Czech Republic (August 2018)…

Ms. Le Thi Bich Huong (the maternal aunt of singer Tung Duong - President of the "Italy - Vietnam: Cultural Bridge" association) - a model student of the course, shared her thoughts at the ceremony.
