On December 22, 2012, the Faculty of Management - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Hue University, organized a scientific seminar on the topic "Improving the curriculum and conducting pilot teaching of the subject of Intellectual Property in universities and colleges in the field of educational science".
On December 22, 2012, the Faculty of Management - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Hue University, organized a scientific seminar on the topic "Improving the curriculum and conducting pilot teaching of the subject of Intellectual Property in universities and colleges in the field of educational science".The seminar was attended by Dr. Pham Phi Anh – Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Office; Dr. Doan Duc Luong – Head of the Faculty of Law, Hue University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector of the University; and representatives from various agencies, universities, and colleges; lecturers and students of the Faculty of Management Science. In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim emphasized that to make Vietnam's intellectual property protection system truly effective, comprehensive and integrated solutions across multiple aspects are required. Among these, developing human resources in intellectual property and enhancing public understanding of intellectual property through training and education programs at Vietnamese universities and colleges is of paramount importance. This scientific seminar contributes to improving the effectiveness of intellectual property training in universities and colleges in Vietnam. Especially in the era of industrialization and the explosion of information technology, the issue of intellectual property and intellectual property rights is becoming more important than ever. In his introductory report to the seminar, Dr. Doan Duc Luong (Head of the Faculty of Law - Hue University) affirmed that building a curriculum, compiling teaching materials on Intellectual Property, and incorporating it into the curriculum of universities and colleges is truly necessary to raise awareness among future civil servants and contribute to the implementation of state management through laws on copyright and related rights in Vietnam. Regarding the protection of intellectual property rights for scientific research results in universities and colleges in the field of educational sciences, Dr. Tran Van Hai (Head of the Faculty of Management Science - University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated that intellectual property assets created during the scientific research process of universities and colleges in the educational sciences sector are protected by intellectual property rights. The seminar then focused on discussing the syllabus for intellectual property courses in universities and colleges in the field of educational sciences. The legal basis for developing the curriculum and compiling teaching materials on intellectual property in general and copyright in particular is based on Article 84 of the 2005 Intellectual Property Law and the Law amending and supplementing certain articles of the 2009 Intellectual Property Law.
