On May 19th and 20th, 2012, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a training conference on trade union work in 2012 and visited historical sites in Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces.Attending the Conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Kim Dinh - Standing Committee Member of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Vice President of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and more than 50 officials in charge of trade union work from units under the University. The Conference heard Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang – President of the University's Trade Union – present the draft work plan of the University's Trade Union Executive Committee for the 29th term (2012-2014) and the Trade Union work plan for the 2012-2013 academic year, announce some new State policies for staff and employees, on changes in the internal expenditure regulations, and provide guidance on some issues related to trade union work. Regarding the Trade Union's work in the 2012-2013 academic year, the University's Trade Union Executive Committee adopted the theme: "The Trade Union and the Innovation of University Management," along with several specific focuses such as: continuing to respond to the movement for fundamental and comprehensive reform of higher education towards standardization, modernization, socialization, and international integration; promoting the implementation of the Regulations on Workplace Culture throughout the University to contribute to consolidating discipline and order in teaching and learning, and contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of work; continuing to respond to phase 2 of the campaign to study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh; and disseminating and implementing the four work programs of the University for the 2012-2015 period. Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Kim Dinh highly appreciated the Trade Union's work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and particularly emphasized the position of the University's Trade Union as a core representative within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union. The conference also heard the guiding remarks from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector of the University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim affirmed that in recent years, the Trade Union has made many positive contributions to the University's activities. The Party Committee and the Board of Directors always highly appreciate the role of the University's Trade Union and believe that in the coming time, the University's Trade Union will continue to build on its achievements, further affirming its position as a strong core grassroots trade union within the Hanoi National University Trade Union system in particular and within the Vietnam Education Trade Union in general, thereby contributing to affirming the role, position and reputation of the University. On the occasion of the 122nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and the 65th anniversary of his return to the ATK to lead the resistance war against French colonialism to achieve national independence, the delegation of the University's Trade Union officials visited historical sites in Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces.
In Tuyen Quang, the delegation visited Na Lua hut, Tan Trao banyan tree, and Son Duong Museum. In Thai Nguyen, the delegation visited and offered incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in the ATK Dinh Hoa historical site; and visited the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures in Thai Nguyen city. These are meaningful activities, responding to the second phase of the campaign to study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh by the trade union members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
