Dr. Philip Calvert (Senior Lecturer at the School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand) gave a presentation and discussion with faculty, lecturers, and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Information and Library Science on the topic of "Modern Libraries" on May 4, 2012.
Dr. Philip Calvert (Senior Lecturer at the School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand) gave a presentation and discussion with faculty, lecturers, and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Information and Library Science on the topic of "Modern Libraries" on May 4, 2012.The main topics discussed by Dr. Philip Calvert during the presentation were: the role of technology in building modern libraries; the challenges facing libraries in selecting and applying modern technology in the context of the technological boom; approaches to and use of technology for information and library science students; modern libraries facing the trend of connectivity and interaction through "social media" - social networks, Web 2.0, etc.; and information users in modern libraries. Dr. Philip Calvert and the faculty, lecturers, and students of the Department of Information and Library Science exchanged and discussed topics around Web 2.0, access points in modern libraries, characteristics of modern libraries, the issue of document digitization with copyright challenges, software for building digital libraries, and technological products supporting information users, etc. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Quy, Head of the Department of Information and Library Science, on behalf of the faculty and students, thanked Dr. Calvert. Calvert enthusiastically dedicated his valuable time to this presentation. Associate Professor Tran Thi Quy expressed her hope that the cooperative relationship between the Faculty, Dr. Philip Calvert, and Victoria University of Wellington will continue to develop further in the future. Dr. Calvert thanked the faculty and students of the Information and Library Science Department for their warm welcome and enthusiastic work ethic. He also expressed his confidence in the future cooperation between the two sides.
