Launching the Fourth Korean Literature Appreciation Writing Contest

The Institute for Literary Translation, Ministry of Culture, Information and Communication of Korea, in collaboration with the Department of Oriental Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), is organizing the fourth Korean Literature Appreciation Writing Contest.

* Eligibility for participation:

All undergraduate and postgraduate students currently studying at the three universities (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Foreign Languages ​​- Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Hanoi University).

* Competition format:

- Candidates are required to write a reflection on the short story collection "Kim Dong In's Short Stories" by author Kim Dong In.

* Contest rules:

- Candidates can register, receive the application form and materials from June 1st, 2009 to June 25th, 2009 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (contact the Korean Room - Room 402 - 4th Floor - Building C).

- Only essay submissions will be accepted.

- Entries must be typed on A4 paper, font size 14, single line, 4-6 pages (please do not include personal information in the submission).

- Each contestant may submit only one entry, and it must be an original piece that has not been published in newspapers or other mass media.

* Submission deadline:

- Time period: from September 5, 2009 to September 15, 2009.

- Location: Korean Room - 402 - 4th Floor - Building C

* Award Ceremony(expected):

- Time: 8:00 AM, October 9, 2009 (Thursday)

- Location: Auditorium, 8th Floor, Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities

* Prize:by cash or goods of equivalent value

- 1st prize: worth 9,000,000 VND

- 2 second prizes: each worth 4,500,000 VND

- 3 third prizes: each worth 1,700,000 VND

- 5 consolation prizes: each worth 500,000 VND
