The Party Cell of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work always receives close guidance from the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the Party Cell always has good coordination with the Faculty's Leadership Board, Trade Union, Youth Union and staff, students, trainees and postgraduates of the Faculty.
In 2024, all Party members of the Party cell have faith in the Party's leadership, solidarity, consensus, and promote the role of Party members before the masses. Party members who are cadres all hold concurrent positions of leadership of the government, mass organizations, and work as faculty assistants and academic advisors, so the unity in Party and government leadership is high in order to achieve the political goals set by the Party cell.
In 2024, the Party Cell of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work was honored to receive the title of one of the four excellent Party Cells of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with outstanding achievements in the following specific fields:
1. On political and ideological education, building and developing the Faculty
The Party cell identifies political education and ideological leadership as regular and continuous tasks in the entire Party building work, so the political ideology of cadres and Party members in the Party cell always develops well, always complies well with the State's guidelines, policies, laws, regulations and rules of the school, complies well with regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, complies with the assignment of the unit's leaders, has awareness in work, and successfully completes political tasks.
2. On the work of organizing staff in the direction of modern research university
Implementing the direction to adjust and rearrange the organizational structure of the unit to suit the trend and meet the development requirements of the School in the direction of a research and innovative university, the Faculty Party Cell has directed the review of the organizational structure and proposed a plan to change the name of the Faculty of Sociology to the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, restructure the departmental structure of the Faculty from 6 departments, 1 center into 4 departments including the Department of Sociology, Department of Social Work, Department of Social Security, Department of Theory and Methodology. The Center for Applied Research and Development of Social Work merged with the Department of Social Work and added more functions and tasks to the Department of Social Work.
The training and fostering of cadres has been given attention by the Party Committee of the Faculty. Comrades in the Party Committee have been sent to attend training courses to improve their political theory level, in order to ensure the requirements according to current regulations.
3. On innovation in admission methods, improving training quality, meeting social needs and international integration
The Party cell actively directs regular undergraduate and postgraduate training activities to standardize and follow the training process. The entire Faculty actively carries out the task of improving the quality of training programs and successfully completes the assessment and accreditation of bachelor's degree training programs in Social Work to meet AUN-QA standards.
A highlight of recent training achievements, on March 12, 2025, thanks to the leadership of the Faculty Party Cell for many periods along with the strong support of the School Party Committee, the School Board of Directors, the field of Sociology of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work was ranked 301-375 in the world for the first time according to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) education organization. This is a great honor for all generations of lecturers, students and trainees of the Faculty Party Cell in the past time.
4. On creating high-quality scientific products, enhancing international integration in science, actively contributing to building research universities
The Party Cell highly appreciates and actively directs the successful participation of the Faculty's staff as chairpersons, secretaries and key members of many science and technology topics and projects at all levels. In 2024, 03 staff are chairing State-level topics, 08 staff are chairing National University-level topics; 03 staff are chairing grassroots-level topics. In addition, many staff are scientific secretaries and participating members of science topics at all levels; Faculty staff have 33 articles published in international journals, conferences, and book chapters; 18 articles published in domestic journals and conferences.
5. On expanding domestic and international cooperation to develop and enhance the position of the Faculty
The Party Cell always strengthens the direction and creates maximum conditions for the Faculty to promote its international cooperation research capacity with universities around the world such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hawaii Pacific University and a number of research centers, research institutes and universities in Korea, Singapore, China, Thailand, England, France... and sends many groups of lecturers to participate in high-quality international training courses, workshops, and scientific seminars, improving the professional capacity of lecturers and staff of the Faculty.
On March 10, 2025, the Party Cell of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work successfully organized the Party Cell Congress for the 2025-2027 term with 100% consensus among Party Cell members on the policy of personnel structure participating in the Party Cell Committee and the targets, directions and tasks set for the 2025-2027 term. The Congress called on all Party members under the leadership of the Party Cell to overcome difficulties, uphold the spirit of initiative, creativity, solidarity, unanimity, and determination to successfully implement the Resolution of the Congress for the 2025-2027 term, and build the Party Cell of the Faculty increasingly stronger in the coming time.
