The Party Branch of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language currently has 13 full members and 3 probationary members, including 2 Associate Professors, 8 PhD holders, and 6 students. The Party Branch of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language is always a united and harmonious organization, working together to fulfill the tasks and targets set forth in the Resolution of the Party Branch Congress for the term (2022-2025) and the Resolution of the 28th Party Congress of the University for the term 2020-2025.
Comrade Le Thi Thanh Tam - Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch - presented the political reports of the Congress.
Currently, the Faculty has a total of 21 lecturers and staff members, including 4 administrative staff and 18 lecturers. Among them are 3 Associate Professors, 13 PhD holders, and 1 Master's degree holder, all of whom possess a good to excellent level of English proficiency. The quality of the staff initially meets the requirements of a research university faculty. In 2023-2024, the Faculty will have 2 more lecturers who meet the standards for Associate Professor. All lecturers successfully complete their annual training and scientific research tasks.
During the 2022-2025 term, the Faculty launched a doctoral program in Vietnamese Studies, specializing in Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies. The first cohort (in 2025) is expected to have approximately 9-10 doctoral students, including 6-7 international students and 3 Vietnamese students. The standard undergraduate program in Vietnamese Studies achieved quality accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Training in 2023.
From 2022 to the present, the Faculty has averaged 8 to 10 international publications per year, including 5 publications in the ISI/Scopus index, making a significant contribution to the University's KPIs for international publications and scientific research in general.
In addition to its extensive network of collaborations with numerous universities, research institutes in Vietnam and around the world, and foreign businesses in Vietnam, the "Vietnamese Language Teaching Channel for Overseas Vietnamese" operated by the faculty has organized hundreds of free Vietnamese language classes for overseas Vietnamese from 25 countries and territories worldwide, creating a significant impact within the overseas Vietnamese community.
The Faculty has collaborated with VTV4, the foreign affairs television channel, to successfully develop the Vietnamese language teaching program series "Hello Vietnam" from 2022 to the present, with nearly 100 lessons that have had a positive impact. The program is implemented by experts, scientists, and educators from the Faculty in the roles of advisors, content creators, and experts sharing their knowledge.
Besides the outstanding achievements, the Party Branch Congress also frankly pointed out the limitations, the causes of these limitations, and the lessons learned from the 2022-2025 term. These include the need to develop appropriate resolutions and determine implementation strategies based on available resources, as well as leadership, building unity, and promoting individual capabilities in implementation, all of which play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the resolutions.
Comrade Nguyen Truong Son - Secretary of the Party Branch, presided over the Congress.
The Congress determined the direction, objectives, and key tasks to be implemented during the 2025-2027 term. Regarding the direction, the focus is on promoting the comprehensive leadership role of the Party Committee, strengthening autonomy, and continuously innovating to further develop the Faculty in the direction of interdisciplinary Vietnamese studies training and research, affirming its unique values, and contributing to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The overall objective is to strengthen the comprehensive leadership role of the Party Committee, successfully implement autonomy; develop a high-quality team of lecturers and administrative staff; and mobilize all resources to open more high-quality, attractive training programs that meet the needs of the domestic and international workforce. The action slogan for the new term is defined as "Autonomy - Innovation - Uniqueness".
The delegates attending the congress discussed and contributed many opinions to the political reports; voted secretly and unanimously in electing the Party Committee for the 2025-2027 term; elected delegates to the University Party Congress and adopted the Congress Resolution. The Party Committee of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for the 2025-2027 term consists of 3 members: Comrade Nguyen Truong Son as Secretary of the Party Committee; Comrade Le Thi Thanh Tam as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; and Comrade Bui Duy Duong as a member of the Party Committee.
The Party Committee of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for the term 2025-2027 was introduced at the Congress.
Comrade Bui Thanh Nam delivered a speech at the Party Branch Congress of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language. Highly appreciating the serious and democratic spirit of the Party Branch in preparing documents and organizing the Congress, Comrade Bui Thanh Nam - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the School Council, emphasized that the spirit of unity and solidarity within the Party Branch will contribute to creating a new atmosphere in the next phase of development of the Party Branch of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language.
In the context of fierce competition in the education sector, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language needs to leverage its traditions and strengths in teaching Vietnamese to foreigners to attract international students to study and conduct research at the Faculty; promote its internationalization strategy; and urgently adjust and open new training programs to meet the increasingly high demands of society. The streamlining of the organizational structure is posing many challenges and new requirements in the development strategy of the university and the Faculty.
Representatives of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed confidence that, with its rich tradition and strong unity, the Party Branch of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language will lead and guide the branch to achieve many new accomplishments.
