Seminar to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Hanoi University of Science

At the seminar, former teachers shared and recalled memories of Hanoi National University - one of the famous universities with many contributions to Vietnamese education.

Prof. Dr. Vu Duong Ninh - Chairman of the School's Former Teachers Association and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Chairman of the School's Trade Union chaired the discussion.

Hanoi University of Science is a basic science university, including the first natural sciences and social sciences in the North, established in 1956. The school directly inherits the traditions and technical facilities of the Indochina University, Vietnam National University and the University of Letters... Professor Nguyen Nhu Kon Tum was directly selected by President Ho Chi Minh to be the first Principal of Hanoi University of Science and he held this position for twenty-six consecutive years from 1956 to 1982.

After thirty-seven years of establishment and development, Hanoi National University has achieved important achievements in building and developing Vietnam's scientific fields, providing high-quality human resources to serve the cause of building Socialism in the North and the struggle to liberate the South and unify the country. The school has truly become a leading key school and a leading training institution of the country. The school has trained thousands of cadres with university and postgraduate degrees. They have become a core team of basic scientific cadres of universities, research institutes, central and local agencies.

In 1993, Hanoi National University was split into the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. These two schools became two core members of the current Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
