Welcoming representatives from Cork Institute of Technology (Ireland)

On November 9, 2016, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with representatives from Cork Institute of Technology (Ireland), including Professor Gerad O'Donovan (Head of the Faculty of Business and Humanities). Also participating were representatives from the Faculty of International Studies, the Faculty of Tourism Studies, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, and the Office of Cooperation and Development.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) introduced the main achievements in training, scientific research, and the main research directions of the University; emphasizing the goal of building a research university, strengthening research projects, especially international publications. As a leading training and research center in the Vietnamese higher education community, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has established cooperative relationships with universities in Europe in general and Ireland in particular, such as University College Cork – National University of Ireland. The Vice Rector proposed establishing cooperation between the University and Cork Institute of Technology.

Professor Gerad O'Donovan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and stated that Cork Institute of Technology wishes to expand cooperation between the two sides in areas such as faculty and student exchange; co-organizing joint seminars and collaborative training programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in fields such as tourism and travel management, international relations, journalism and communication, etc.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan agreed with Professor Gerard O'Donovan's proposals and pledged to create the best conditions to support the implementation of the aforementioned contents. The Cooperation and Development Department will be the liaison between the two sides.

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) is an institution in Ireland, founded in 1912. Located in the heart of Cork city centre, just 10km from the airport, CIT is one of Ireland's highest-ranked universities, offering programs in Business, Engineering, Science, Computer Science, Humanities, Media, Arts, and Music. Currently, the institute has approximately 17,000 students.
