A seminar of leaders of domestic and international partner universities on the topic "International cooperation in training high-quality human resources in the context of globalization" was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on November 16, 2010.The seminar was attended by representatives of university leaders from China, Korea, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Representatives of the universities discussed core issues related to the goal of training high-quality human resources in the current context of globalization. Identifying criteria for evaluating "High-quality human resources" in the context of globalization was one of the key issues raised by Dr. Hidaka Yoshihiro - President of Senshu University (Japan) at the seminar. Mr. Hidaka Yoshihiro proposed a number of criteria for evaluating high-quality human resources in the context of globalization, which are: having unique characteristics, understanding and preserving the cultural identity of one's own country, but at the same time understanding the culture of other countries. From there, this high-quality human resource is not only capable of providing development solutions for one's own country but also for the world. To have high-quality human resources, higher education institutions play an essential role. This issue was emphasized by Professor Supol Wuthisen - President of Basomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (Thailand) in the report "The role of local universities towards sustainable development". Professor Supol Wuthisen affirmed the role of universities in training high-quality human resources to meet international requirements. Above all, universities always attach importance to providing cultural knowledge of their country. At the same time, schools do not forget to focus on improving international knowledge. If these two knowledge blocks are harmoniously combined and applied, a certain knowledge framework will be created, popular and suitable for the general development trend of the country and the world. Sharing the same view with the above comments, Prof. Dr. You Sun-gyu (President of Pusan University of Foreign Studies) emphasized: In the current context of regionalization and globalization becoming an inevitable trend, international cooperation and exchange are very necessary and indispensable. To implement this issue, foreign languages play a key role in training high-quality human resources that can adapt to a multicultural and multilingual environment. A number of other reports have also focused on discussing specifically the importance of international cooperation in training high-quality human resources. Typically, the "Internationalization Strategy of Shanghai University" is implemented with criteria such as: internationalization of teaching, development of scientific research environment, establishment of alliances and regionalization of cooperation. In addition, when talking about the ability and opportunities for international cooperation in training high-quality human resources, it is impossible not to mention the challenges in building international joint training programs. Prof. Saykhong Saynasine - Vice President of the National University of Laos - made a number of proposals: it is necessary to establish a committee to promote cooperation and exchange on common international training programs; create a network to carry out common research topics, train high-quality researchers; exchange lecturers; use a common language... This discussion basically reached a consensus on focusing on training high-quality human resources, requiring universities to build international programs on the basis of multilateral cooperation. Thanks to that, the trained human resources have the capacity and adapt well to the international working environment. The discussion is also one of the official activities in the series of activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
