On November 20, 2010, the Faculty of Tourism Studies solemnly celebrated its 15th anniversary (1995 – 2010).The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Van Luu, Deputy Head of the Training Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Vice Rector of the University; and leaders of various departments and functions within the university, as well as representatives from travel agencies, hotels, and other organizations. Particularly noteworthy was the presence of generations of faculty, staff, and students of the Faculty of Tourism Studies. Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa, Head of the Faculty, reviewed the achievements made over the past 15 years of the Faculty's development. After 15 years since its official establishment, the Faculty currently has two departments: the Department of Tourism Culture and Geography, and the Department of Tourism Economics and Operations. The Faculty's staff consists of 20 members, 19 of whom hold Master's degrees or higher, including 3 Associate Professors and 5 Doctors. Regarding training, the Faculty has trained over 1,600 full-time students and more than 1,500 part-time students. In 2003, the Faculty opened a master's degree program, and 107 students graduated. In addition to undergraduate programs, the Faculty also provides training in tour guiding and tourism knowledge enhancement. Regarding scientific research: Faculty staff have participated in and led 2 overseas projects, 23 research topics with provinces and cities, 2 special projects at the National University level, 1 basic project at the National University level, 23 university-level projects, and many other projects with units and research institutes in the tourism industry. Furthermore, the Faculty staff has compiled 12 textbooks and numerous monographs and reference books that are widely used. Regarding domestic and international cooperation: Over the years, the Faculty of Tourism Studies has built and developed cooperative training relationships with many universities and international organizations: Mahidol University, Thampasat University, Chiang Mai University (Thailand), Rikyo University, Kansai University (Japan), University of Tolouse (France), University of Munich (Germany)... The contributions of the Faculty of Tourism Studies throughout the years have always been recognized. In 1997, the Faculty received a commendation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi People's Committee; in 2002, the Faculty of Tourism Studies was honored to receive a commendation from the Prime Minister.
