Summer political training 2017 for political theory and political education lecturers (from Ha Tinh province to the North)

The activity was carried out in accordance with Instruction No. 35-HD/BTGTU dated May 22, 2017 of the Central Propaganda Department on Summer Political Training 2017 for lecturers, teachers of the national education system and political activities at the beginning of the course for students and Decision No. 2762/QD-BGDDT dated August 14, 2017 of the Minister of Education and Training on assigning the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi to preside over and organize. The class was organized under the direction and supervision of the Department of Political Theory - Central Propaganda Department and the Department of Higher Education - Ministry of Education and Training.

Attending the opening and closing ceremony of the 2017 summer political training course were Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Linh (Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department), Master. Dao Mai Phuong (Deputy Head of the Department of Political Theory); Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Anh Tuan (Deputy Head of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training); Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities).

After 3 working days, the trainees listened to speakers with political theory qualifications and experience in teaching and fostering political theory such as Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Linh (Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department), Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Phuc (Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council of Central Party Agencies), Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Van Thao (Secretary Member of the Central Theoretical Council), Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Kim Son (Member of the Central Theoretical Council), and Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) with 5 topics including the following contents:

1. New contents and basic viewpoints in the Resolutions of the 4th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee (Resolution on Some major guidelines and policies to continue to innovate the growth model, improve growth quality, labor productivity, and economic competitiveness; Resolution on Effectively implementing the international economic integration process, maintaining political and social stability in the context of our country participating in world free trade agreements; Conclusion on the socio-economic situation, state budget in 2016, socio-economic development plan, state budget estimate in 2017).
2. Special topic on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example in 2017 on preventing and combating ideological, moral, and lifestyle degradation, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party, in conjunction with Resolution 4 of the 12th Central Committee“On strengthening Party building and rectification; preventing and repelling ideological, moral and lifestyle degradation, and manifestations of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” within the Party.”
3. Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW on developing the private economy into an important driving force of the socialist-oriented market economy of the 5th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee. Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW on perfecting the socialist-oriented market economic institution of the 5th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee.
4. Report on outstanding international and domestic situations and Vietnam's diplomatic relations in the first six months of 2017.
5. Resolution No. 12-NQ/TW on continuing to restructure, innovate and improve the efficiency of State-owned enterprises of the 5th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee. Innovation in the study of political theory subjects in the national education system - Conclusion 94-KL/TW.

At the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Principal of the University summarized and emphasized the importance of the annual summer political theory training and the role of the students who are leaders of Faculties/Departments, political theory lecturers, political education of universities in innovating the teaching and learning of political theory subjects. According to Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, students need to proactively connect with each other to form a network of people teaching and researching political theory to exchange and share experiences and valuable lessons. The Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Education and Training need to pay attention to directing the resolute innovation in content and methods so that the teaching and learning of political theory is suitable for the new context and conditions. Leaders of universities and faculties/departments need to organize in-depth discussions to find practical solutions for teaching and learning these subjects at their institutions. Ultimately, it is none other than political theory lecturers who must realize the importance of teaching and learning political theory and must innovate themselves.
