Meeting and working with Dr. Taiji Hotta (Hiroshima University, Japan)

On September 7, 2017, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development received and worked with Dr. Taiji Hotta (Vice President in charge of International Education, International Center, Hiroshima University). The meeting aimed to discuss the PEACA student exchange program between the University and Hiroshima University.

The PEACE Student Exchange Program is an acronym for “Project for Effective Educational Cooperation with CLMV Countries to Promote Research and Social Planning Capacity for Peaceful, Synchronous and Sustainable Development”. The program aims to train professional human resources for CLMV countries, helping them use their knowledge and skills to contribute to the synchronous and sustainable development of the Asian region. Participating students will study from 1 to 4 semesters at Hiroshima University, starting from April 8, 2017 to February 14, 2018; round-trip airfare is sponsored and can apply for a JASSO scholarship worth 80,000 yen/month to cover living and food expenses. The five majors in this program are Food and Medicine, Environment and Resources, Education and Employment, Language and Culture, Economics and International Management.

Currently, Hiroshima University has implemented the PEACE program with a number of partners in four countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. The five Vietnamese partners in this program are Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Transport and Foreign Trade University. Dr. Taiji Hotta said that Hiroshima University wishes to welcome and will create the best conditions for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU to participate in the PEACE program. In return, Hiroshima University will also send students to the University.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa expressed her gratitude for Hiroshima University’s enthusiasm in sharing. The University is committed to selecting the best candidates to enroll in the PEACE program; at the same time, the University is ready to receive students from Hiroshima University to study and research in short-term programs, summer courses, etc. The Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development will be the liaison between the two sides.

Hiroshima University is a prestigious national university in Japan founded on May 31, 1949. The school is located in Hiroshima City, Japan. The school has a 4-year undergraduate training system with majors such as General Science, Literature, Education, Law, Economics; postgraduate training system (2-year master's, 3-year doctorate) with majors such as General Science Research, Literary Research, Educational Research, Social Science Research. The school has many majors, undergraduate and graduate training, modern equipment, and experienced lecturers.
