Letter from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2016 (Year of the Monkey).

Over the past year, with unity and consensus, overcoming difficulties and challenges, seizing opportunities, and closely adhering to the Central Committee's Resolutions and the Government's Action Program on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, and the development of science and technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has concretized these through practical and effective actions, thereby achieving many important accomplishments in all aspects of its work, contributing to affirming its position and living up to the trust and expectations of the Party, the State, and the People.

2016 was the first year that Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) implemented the Resolution of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Resolution of the 5th Congress of the VNU Party Committee. VNU identified its central task as continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of all aspects of its operations, especially in training and scientific research, creating the foundation to soon become a research-oriented university, maintaining its leading position among higher education institutions in Vietnam and achieving high rankings in international rankings. The task ahead is extremely challenging, and I hope and believe that all staff, civil servants, employees, and students of VNU will work together, be united, creative, and innovative, to successfully achieve the goals and tasks set forth.
