Ceremony to announce the decision to assign the task of training PhD in Social Work

Accordingly, the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU is one of the first two units to implement the PhD training program in Social Work.

Attending and congratulating were many delegates and leading experts in Sociology and Social Work.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Principal of the School, shared: Social Work is considered an important field, established, organized, managed and operated as a highly professional profession in developed countries. Therefore, training human resources in this field is an urgent requirement.

Social Work is the 29th PhD program that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has launched. This is not only the joy of the Faculty of Sociology but also the joy and pride of the University.

This contributes significantly to building and consolidating the position of a research university, making the School one of the largest training institutions in Vietnam, training highly qualified and qualified experts, contributing to the overall development of the country.

Prof. Dr. Pham Tat Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, former first Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, shared: Social work is a field of social activity and has existed for hundreds of years in Western countries.

In recent years, Vietnam has begun to focus on training professional social workers, striving to have 1 social worker for every 5,000 people.

In Vietnam, social work is not a new job, but training human resources in this field is very new, so trained human resources are currently in high demand. Almost any agency that wants to effectively implement policies to the people needs social workers. It can be said that social work is the bridge between workers, people and policy makers.
