Opening the meeting, Professor Nguyen Van Kim extended a warm welcome to GNI and introduced the research and training activities in social work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Vice-Rector noted that the specialties within the Faculty of Psychology and Sociology at the University share significant similarities with GNI's areas of activity, namely educational development support, community health development, sanitation, and emergency relief. Therefore, the University wishes to promote cooperation with GNI through activities such as launching joint research projects; organizing training courses for social work experts; exchanging experts; and organizing workshops and seminars on social work.
In response, Mr. An Yong Sic stated that, as one of the leading regional organizations for child protection, GNI hopes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will become a partner in building and upgrading the child protection service system in Vietnam and the region. At the same time, GNI is ready to accept Social Work students from the University for internships at its facilities in Vietnam. To date, the GNI representative office in Vietnam has five staff members who are graduates of the University.
Professor Nguyen Van Kim expressed his gratitude to Mr. An Yong Sic and hoped that the two sides would soon implement more concrete collaborations and sign a formal cooperation agreement in the future. The Faculty of Sociology, the Faculty of Psychology, and the Office of Cooperation and Development will serve as the liaison between the two sides.
