At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Party Secretary, Vice Rector of the University) introduced the Institute of Policy and Management (IPAM) of the University. IPAM is one of the pioneers in research and policy consulting in the field of science and technology in Vietnam. During the period 2014 - 2016, the Institute presided over the implementation of 5 state-level projects and 2 provincial-level projects, implemented 2 international projects with funding from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation - Federal Republic of Germany; implemented cooperation projects with the Rosa Luxemburg Institute; organized more than 24 training courses on policy analysis and planning skills in localities and annual training courses on policy analysis, planning and appraisal skills for officials of the National Assembly Office; signed cooperation agreements with many domestic partners such as the Institute for Legislative Studies (under the National Assembly Standing Committee). In the coming time, the Institute will continue to focus on research on public policy, science and technology policy, and postgraduate training in Public Policy.
Dr. Edgard R. Rodriguez expressed his impression of IPAM's achievements and thanked the Institute for choosing IDRC as one of its international partners. Dr. Edgard R. Rodriguez wished to further promote cooperation with the Institute by acting as a bridge between the Institute and the University with Canadian universities and the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam. He said that currently, leading Canadian universities such as the University of Toronto, UBC and Vancouver Island are very interested in establishing and expanding cooperation with Vietnamese universities. USSH will be one of the reliable addresses, especially in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC) was established by the Parliament of Canada in 1970. It is a Canadian public corporation, with the goal of improving the lives and economies of people in developing countries through investment in research, innovation and solution development. IDRC's approach is to support researchers in developing countries in their research projects and research at their own research institutes in their home countries.
