Faculty of Journalism and Communication opens new school year

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication congratulated the new students of the Faculty who passed the competency assessment exam to become members of the Faculty's common home. Among the 154 new students of the Faculty, 5 students were directly admitted, 20 students were students of famous specialized schools nationwide. The valedictorian of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Vu Quynh Trang, is also the valedictorian of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Since its inception, the Faculty has been home to a team of dedicated and enthusiastic lecturers, many of whom are great and prestigious scientists and leading experts in journalism and communications. Most of the Faculty’s lecturers have received formal training in the UK, Australia, Korea and the Soviet Union. In addition, the Faculty has more than 50 part-time lecturers who are experienced journalists and communications experts.

Studying in the leading training and research environment of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, students of the Faculty will be able to access and impart the most basic and profound knowledge about different fields from leading professors in the field of social sciences and humanities. This is the strength of the school that no other journalism and communication training institution has. Supporting and empowering students are 25 generations of alumni of the Faculty, currently working all over the country and holding important positions in press and communication agencies.

With all these foundations, new students have opportunities and a bright future to follow in the footsteps of previous generations, contributing to the development of the Faculty, the School and the development of the country's journalism.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities attended and shared joy with teachers and students of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. He advised: Young people should strive to practice and study to integrate with the world in the current globalization trend. Vietnam has joined the ASEAN Community and participated in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement TPP. Your labor market is also the Southeast Asian market with more than 600 million people. That is both an opportunity and a challenge when Vietnamese students have to compete with students from many other universities in the region. "Cherish the past, hold the future" - you will be successful - that is the message that the Rector sent to students of Journalism and Communication at the opening ceremony.

At the ceremony, generations of teachers and students of the Faculty also listened to the sharing of Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Duc - the first Head of the Faculty - about the 26-year development journey of the Faculty, about the things that young people need to remember to succeed in journalism and to become useful people for society. He also wished young people to always maintain their passion, enthusiasm, keep their souls pure and always constantly improve their knowledge, cultural background, life experience, not to be indifferent to the changes of society and life.
