Receiving the delegation from China Ocean University.

On September 13, 2018, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), along with representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Cooperation and Development Office, and the Political and Student Affairs Office, received and worked with a delegation from Ocean University of China led by Professor Li Hua Jun (Vice Rector).

During the meeting, Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa shared information: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading institution for research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. Initially, it focused on basic sciences such as Philosophy, History, and Literature, and later expanded to include highly applied fields such as Management Science, Tourism Studies, and Social Work. The university currently offers 24 undergraduate programs, 41 master's programs, and 31 doctoral programs, with over 10,000 students and more than 500 staff members. Regarding international cooperation, the university has signed cooperation agreements with over 300 foreign partners. The Vice Rector expressed her hope that the university would soon implement cooperation with Ocean University of China through activities such as student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and co-organizing international conferences.

Mr. Kim Tianyu (Head of the Social Sciences Management Department) introduced the social sciences and humanities disciplines at China Ocean University on behalf of the Chinese side. Currently, the university has seven constituent colleges and one center teaching basic courses in social sciences and humanities, along with four doctoral programs: Law, Business Administration, Applied Economics, Foreign Languages, and Literature. Social science students account for half of the 28,000 full-time students; the number of faculty members teaching social sciences and humanities is 1,680, accounting for one-third of the total. Among the 12 key research groups of China Ocean University, five groups are responsible for social sciences and humanities disciplines: Capital Efficiency and Financial Risk Analysis, Law Economics, Children's Literature, Interdisciplinary Research on Second Language Acquisition, and Classical Literature and Traditional Culture.

Professor Li Huaqun expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He stated that although initially focusing only on marine research, the China Ocean University began offering social science and humanities programs in 1988. Professor Li Huaqun proposed signing a memorandum of cooperation between the two sides.

Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa and Professor Li Hua Jun exchanged commemorative gifts.

China Ocean University, established in 1924, is one of the 36 A-class universities in the Chinese Ministry of Education's plan to build world-class universities. It has 28,000 full-time students, including 9,000 master's students and 2,000 doctoral students. Its four campuses—Yushan, Laoshan, Fushan, and Huangdao (under construction)—combine 20 colleges and affiliated schools. The university has bilateral cooperation with over 200 partners from 40 countries and regions and is a member of international multilateral networks such as the International Alliance of Maritime Institutes (IAMRI) and the ASEAN Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN+).
