Awarding certificates of "Basic Journalism" class to officers and reporters of Vietnam Law Newspaper

On August 31, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a closing ceremony and awarded certificates for the "Basic Journalism" class to young staff and reporters of the Vietnam Law Newspaper.

This is a class organized by Vietnam Law Newspaper in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Attending from the School were Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Head of Training Department). On the side of Vietnam Law Newspaper, there were Dr. Dao Van Hoi (Editor-in-Chief), Mr. Tran Duc Vinh (Deputy Editor-in-Chief) and staff and reporters of the newspaper.

Reporting on the learning results of the class, Mr. Tran Ngoc Ha (Head of Culture - Society Department, Vietnam Law Newspaper) said: “The class had 41 students from different departments and professional divisions of the newspaper, participating in 19 lessons and a field trip to Thai Nguyen. The students studied with a high sense of discipline. At the end of the class, all 41 students were qualified for the School and Vietnam Law Newspaper to issue training certificates.”

According to Mr. Ha, the students learned specialized content about journalism genres and practiced writing journalism genres, journalistic photography skills, writing skills for online newspapers, language skills in journalistic works... to apply to journalism work.

During the field trip to Thai Nguyen, young reporters from the Vietnam Law Newspaper had a cultural exchange with the Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union and learned about clean tea production in Tan Cuong (Thai Nguyen). Through the course, the students completed a number of journalistic works.

"The success of the course is thanks to the contributions, guidance and maximum facilitation from the Editorial Board of Vietnam Law Newspaper and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, which coordinated and helped the Newspaper with even the smallest things," Mr. Ha affirmed.

On behalf of the students, Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Lan sent her thanks to the school and the Editorial Board of Vietnam Law Newspaper, teachers and lecturers who worked hard to prepare special lesson plans for this class.

"Through the course, students have acquired a thorough knowledge of journalism genres as well as a new perspective on modern journalism trends in the current era of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution," said Ms. Lan. "In the future, I hope that the Editorial Board of Vietnam Law Newspaper will organize more training courses on journalism."

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Dao Van Hoi (Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Law Newspaper) said that this is the sweet fruit of the collaboration between Vietnam Law Newspaper and Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

According to Dr. Dao Van Hoi, journalism requires constant innovation and learning is a lifelong process. Through practical lectures from school lecturers and journalists with extensive experience in practice, course students have gained valuable lessons and provisions for their future work.

Dr. Dao Van Hoi also welcomed the class's leadership for successfully organizing the class for cadres and reporters to refresh their knowledge, supplement, and better examine their journalism stories.

“The message “For the Socialist Republic of Vietnam” is the guiding principle for all activities of the Vietnam Law Newspaper, showing where we are and what we are doing. How is Vietnam Law Newspaper different from other newspapers? The nature of journalism is to provide good and interesting information, so we need to be good at professional skills and do a good job of communication. Hopefully, young cadres and reporters will have more experience to do better journalism and have more good journalism training programs,” said Dr. Dao Van Hoi.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Head of Training Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said: “As someone who often reads newspapers to serve my teaching profession, I will choose which news sources and news sites to read. To compete, newspapers must constantly innovate, making them more beautiful and attractive to readers, this is partly due to the contributions of reporters and journalists. As a reader, I am very happy that the University has coordinated with Vietnam Law Newspaper to organize this class to convey some of the experiences and knowledge in journalism.”

Associate Professor Dr. Nam also thanked the Vietnam Law Newspaper for choosing the School as a place to provide teaching services for staff and reporters with specific lessons, from photography skills to writing and interviewing skills, so that lecturers can develop their strengths.
