Receiving the delegation from Southwest Forestry University (China)

On September 6, 2018, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from Southwest Forestry University (China) led by Ms. My Le Hong (Party Secretary, Academy of Foreign Languages).

During the meeting, Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa shared information about the University: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading institution for research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam; initially focusing on training and research in basic sciences, it later expanded to include highly applied fields. The University has a Department of Chinese Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies) along with a Center for Chinese Studies. The University also has cooperation agreements with many Chinese universities. The Vice Rector hoped that the two universities could promote cooperation in fields such as Chinese Studies, Vietnamese Studies, and Tourism Studies…

On behalf of the Chinese side, Ms. My Le Hong highly appreciated the goodwill of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in welcoming Chinese students to study and conduct research since the 2014-2015 academic year. She stated that the Academy of Foreign Languages' six training programs include Vietnamese, thus the two universities could cooperate in this field. In addition, Southwest Forestry University offers scholarships such as the Confucius Institute Scholarship, the Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship, and the Southwest Forestry University Scholarship. She hoped to welcome Vietnamese students and extended an invitation for faculty and staff from her university to visit Southwest Forestry University.

Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa expressed her gratitude to the Southwest Forestry University for choosing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a destination for its students. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities will select outstanding students to participate in long-term and short-term programs organized by the Southwest Forestry University. Furthermore, the University will continue to welcome and provide favorable conditions for the students, especially ensuring adequate accommodation, living arrangements, and transportation.

Southwest Forestry University is the only forestry university in western China. Founded in 1938 as the Faculty of Forestry under Yunnan University, it officially became a university in 2010 under the name Southwest Forestry University. The university comprises 30 colleges and over 140 majors, including 65 master's programs and 3 doctoral programs. Its faculty and staff currently number 1,219, including 477 professors; in addition, there are 61 renowned experts and scholars both domestically and internationally.
