Interacting with students from Tama University (Japan)

On September 11, 2018, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized an exchange program between students from the Faculty of International Studies and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University and students from Tama University (Japan).

At the exchange event, on behalf of the Tama University student delegation, Professor Hiroki Hashizume (School of Global Studies) expressed his delight at being warmly welcomed by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He also extended his greetings to all Vietnamese students. He hoped that this exchange would help students from both universities understand each other better and serve as a foundation for further promoting bilateral cooperation.

Next, students from the School of Global Studies, Tama University, presented on the following topics: Fujisawa City, Fujisawa's role in preparing for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, famous scenic spots in Japan, and the most popular outdoor activity in Fujisawa: boating. As a co-host of the 2020 Summer Olympics, Fujisawa City faced several challenges such as cultural differences between the local and international communities, transportation issues, climatic differences, and difficulties in recruiting volunteers. However, Fujisawa also proposed useful solutions to overcome these challenges, such as upgrading urban infrastructure, planting more trees, strengthening communication with foreign tourists, and creating benefits for volunteers.

Besides Fujisawa city, Japan also has many other scenic spots to visit, such as the ancient Asakusa Temple and Tokyo Skytree in Tokyo, the Golden Pavilion and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in Kyoto, Osanbashi Pier in Yokohama, and Komachi Dori Street in Kamakura. Japanese students hope to welcome Vietnamese students to these places.

After a short, fun, and lively game, the Vietnamese students presented the history, mission, vision, and extracurricular activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This was followed by presentations in English about entertainment and recreational spots in Hanoi; and most notably, a presentation on the Mid-Autumn Festival in Japanese by students from the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Finally, a video showcasing 10 of the most outstanding tourist destinations in Vietnam was presented.

Tama University is a private university established in 1989 in Tama Prefecture, Tokyo, Japan. Tama University comprises a university and a graduate school located in separate areas around Tokyo. The School of Information Science and Management (SMIS) is in the main campus in Tama, while the School of Global Studies (SGS) is in the Shonan area of ​​Fujisawa City. Tama University has extensive partnerships with international partners in Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania.
