During the meeting, Professor Nguyen Van Kim briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Faculty of Oriental Studies is one of the leading research and training centers for Chinese studies in Vietnam. The university has relationships with over 300 partners and has welcomed many international students, with Chinese students making up the majority. Many Chinese graduates from the university have become experts in Vietnamese language and culture, as well as ambassadors and diplomats in Vietnam. The Vice-Rector expressed hope that the two universities could promote practical cooperation in the future.

In response, Mr. Tran Cuong expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Mr. Tran Cuong stated that Huazhong University of Science and Technology currently has 4,000 international students, including 200 Vietnamese students. Huazhong University of Science and Technology highly values expanding relations with universities in neighboring countries, including Vietnam. He proposed that the two sides implement activities such as organizing 2+2 and 1+3 joint programs; conducting joint research projects; and exchanging students and faculty for short-term and long-term periods.
Professor Nguyen Van Kim highly appreciated Mr. Tran Cuong's collaborative ideas and hoped that the two sides would soon sign a formal cooperation agreement. The Vice Rector also hoped that the two universities would jointly organize academic seminars and workshops in the future on topics of mutual interest.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a comprehensive university located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Its predecessor was the Huazhong Institute of Technology, established in 1952. In 2000, Huazhong University of Technology and Tongji Medical University merged to form Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The university has 60,000 students, including 30,000 postgraduate students. It offers 90 majors, including social sciences and humanities disciplines such as Sociology, Philosophy, Chinese Language and Culture, History, and Journalism.
