Sad news: Professor and People's Teacher Nguyen Tai Can has passed away.

The Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are deeply saddened to announce the passing of:

Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Tai Can

Born on May 2nd, 1926, in Thanh Van commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province; recipient of the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology; recipient of the 60-Year Party Membership Badge; former Head of the Linguistics Department at Hanoi University; recipient of the First Class Labor Medal and the First Class Anti-American Resistance Medal; due to old age and ill health, he passed away at his home in Moscow, Russian Federation at 3:10 PM (7:10 PM Hanoi time) on February 25th, 2011 (the 23rd day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Rabbit), at the age of 85.
