In 2017, the 2017 Korean Literature Appreciation Contest introduced students to the themed work "For Nostalgia" by Korean author Park Wan Suh, translated into Vietnamese by translator Nguyen Le Thu. The contest attracted participation from students from many universities nationwide.

After several rounds of judging, on December 11, 2017, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held an awards ceremony for the competition, announcing and presenting valuable prizes to 11 authors with the best essays on the literary works.
Accordingly, the First Prize was awarded to student Tran Tung Ngoc (Department of Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities). The Second Prize was awarded to Pham Thi Hoai Thuong (Faculty of Korean Studies, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Pham Thi Dieu Thuy (Faculty of Linguistics, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities). The Third Prize was awarded to Vuong Nhat Vy (Faculty of Korean Studies, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Huynh Thi Minh Thuy (Da Nang University of Foreign Languages), Nguyen Huyen Trang (Faculty of Korean Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities). The Encouragement Prize was awarded to Tran Thi Minh (Faculty of Oriental Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang (Faculty of Oriental Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Vu Thi Kim Hue (Faculty of Oriental Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Tran Thi Dien (Faculty of International Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities).





Professor Mai Ngoc Chu presented the first prize to student Tran Tung Ngoc (Department of Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities).
Through this event, the Organizing Committee aims to introduce Korean literature to young Vietnamese people in greater depth. The works selected for presentation each year are exceptional literary pieces, rich in artistic merit and bearing distinctive imprints of Korean culture and people. The competition serves as a useful learning aid for students majoring in Korean Studies. Furthermore, it helps to foster a network of interaction and connection among students who love Korean literature and culture from various universities across Vietnam.
