In 2017, the 2017 Korean Literature Appreciation Contest introduced to students the work titled “For Memories” by Korean author Park Wan Suh, translated into Vietnamese by translator Nguyen Le Thu. The contest attracted the participation of students from many universities nationwide.

After many rounds of judging, on December 11, 2017, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held the award ceremony, announced and awarded many valuable gifts to 11 authors with the best articles reviewing the works.
Accordingly, the First Prize went to student Tran Tung Ngoc (Korean Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi). The Second Prize was awarded to Pham Thi Hoai Thuong (Korean Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City); Pham Thi Dieu Thuy (Faculty of Languages, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi). The Third Prize was awarded to Vuong Nhat Vy (Korean Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City); Huynh Thi Minh Thuy (Da Nang University of Foreign Languages), Nguyen Huyen Trang (Korean Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi). The Encouragement Prize was awarded to Tran Thi Minh (Oriental Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi), Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang (Oriental Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi), Vu Thi Kim Hue (Oriental Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi); Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Tran Thi Dien (International Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi).

Through this activity, the Organizing Committee wants to introduce Korean literature to Vietnamese youth more widely. The works selected to be introduced each year are all outstanding literary works, with rich artistry and unique imprints of Korean culture and people. The contest is a useful supplementary learning activity for students majoring in Korean studies. Through this, the contest helps to form a network of exchanges and connections between students who love Korean literature and culture from many universities in Vietnam.
