Overview of the conference
Speaking at the conference, Professor Pham Quang Minh emphasized the importance of the conference's theme: Urbanization is an inevitable trend worldwide. How is it linked to development, and what are the opportunities and challenges? The conference acknowledged the insights of domestic and international scientists on these topics. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has a Department of International Development Studies under the Faculty of International Studies, whose research demonstrates concern for global issues in the context of a developing society. Regarding this topic, there are many knowledge gaps that need to be filled, and many new research directions need to be explored. In that sense, the conference is a good opportunity for the University to exchange and share ideas, aiming to connect theory with practice and meet the needs of Vietnamese society. Professor Pham Quang Minh also stated that Ireland's development is a unique model, both sustainable and truly intelligent.

Professor Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities
Ms. Nuala O'Brien (Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam) shared: “Currently, in the world in general, the role of cities is dominant in all aspects of society, acting as both a driving force and a cause of existing problems for development. In reality, development goals can only be achieved through scientific urban management. Vietnam, Ireland, or any country in the world, although different, all face common problems in the development process, including urbanization. Urbanization creates economic centers, fostering entrepreneurial activities, education, etc. Therefore, education is an effective measure to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of cities in the face of urbanization. The Deputy Ambassador highly appreciated the significance and effectiveness of the exchanges on science and education. This is also one of Ireland's measures to address the problems of urbanization.”
