Friday - December 15, 2017 13:27
149 individuals, including 10 young staff members, 6 postgraduate students, and 133 undergraduate students, were awarded the title of Outstanding Young Person at the grassroots level by Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) on December 13, 2017.

Professor Pham Quang Minh presented certificates of Outstanding Young Face to faculty members and postgraduate students.

These are young staff members, postgraduate students, and undergraduates who have achieved outstanding results in teaching, scientific research, and have made significant contributions to the university's youth union and student association activities.

At the awards ceremony, Dr. Pham Huy Cuong (Deputy Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs) reviewed the achievements of students, trainees, and young staff of the University in general, and outstanding young people at the grassroots level in particular, during the 2016-2017 academic year.

During the 2016-2017 academic year, the University continued to promote and improve its undergraduate and postgraduate training. The University awarded diplomas to 1275 students. Many students demonstrated dedication in their studies and work, achieving high results, such as Dinh Thi Thanh Hoa, K59 Social Work, with a GPA of 3.92; Le Thi Mai Trang, K59 Linguistics, with a GPA of 3.90; and Bui Thi Lien, K59 Information Science, with a GPA of 3.89.

With these achievements, the Principal of the school awarded certificates of merit to 90 students with excellent and good academic results; 80 students who were class officers, youth union officers, and association officers with achievements in their studies and work; 67 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who excelled in their studies; and 2 Lao students with excellent academic results.

Student scientific research activities are closely linked to academic activities and have achieved many good results. In the 2016-2017 academic year, 1021 students participated in scientific research with 907 reports. Among them, one student won a ministerial-level scientific research award, and four projects won awards for student scientific research at Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The conference for young faculty and postgraduate students was successfully organized with 36 scientific reports presented.

In addition, 919 students received academic achievement scholarships and social welfare grants, and 336 students received scholarships sponsored by domestic and international organizations, with a total funding of approximately 561 million VND and 45,000 USD.

For young faculty members, most teachers simultaneously hold multiple positions, encompassing both professional and organizational/administrative responsibilities. However, these young faculty members have achieved remarkable accomplishments in both teaching and research. This is reflected in the quantity and quality of their lectures, research projects, and scientific articles published in domestic and international journals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University) praised the outstanding young individuals, affirming that the University's overall achievements are significantly contributed by these exemplary individuals. These are typical role models who have a positive influence, promoting teaching, learning, and research activities in a more positive direction.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan delivered a speech at the ceremony.

To continue maintaining and developing this spirit in the future, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan shared: “Over the past year, the pressure on us has been immense, but we have endured and overcome it to achieve the results we have today. But tomorrow, the pressure and responsibility will be even greater, because the demands are endless. Especially in the context of education in general, and the field of social sciences and humanities in particular, this challenge is even greater. Therefore, we need to prepare ourselves with the right attitude, skills, and knowledge.”

"We will succeed if we prepare ourselves mentally in terms of attitude, skills, and knowledge.",Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan said.

Furthermore, the issue of international publications is a hot topic. Without international publications, there are no research topics; without international publications, there is no supervision, no opportunity to sit on committees; doctoral students without international publications cannot graduate… These are significant challenges for young faculty members.

In light of these challenges, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan hopes:"You should strive harder, focus more on knowledge and skills, cultivate a progressive mindset and a positive learning attitude, and aim for graduation and career development with the most optimistic and cautious attitude, as the French proverb says: Expect the best, but prepare for the worst."
