In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal of the School - affirmed many achievements of the School in the past school year.

The content of the transition to credit-based training is being implemented relatively synchronously and comprehensively; the development of majors and expansion of training types are focused on such as dual degree training programs and international joint training programs in the form of "2+2"; the training methods of "3+1", "3.5+0.5", training according to government agreements, and short-term training are still maintained and expanded. This is also the first year the school has implemented enrollment and organized training in Linguistics according to international standards.
In postgraduate training, the scale and structure have developed and innovated. Specifically, the scale of postgraduate training has reached 26% compared to the total scale of regular training.
Student scientific research activities have also achieved very encouraging results. In 2008, at the Ministry of Education and Training level alone, there was 01 project winning First Prize, 01 project winning Second Prize, 01 project winning Third Prize, 03 projects winning Encouragement Prize; The school was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in the student scientific research movement.

In particular, the school had 4 groups and 3 individuals receiving Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 1 individual was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal, 2 groups and 6 individuals were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal. The school achieved the title of Excellent Labor Collective, was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training and was honored to receive the emulation flag and Certificate of Merit from VNU.
The opening ceremony was also an occasion to honor many individuals and collectives of the school's staff who had excellent achievements in the past school year with many medals and certificates of merit at all levels. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang - Vice President of VNU - presented the Emulation Flag of VNU to representatives of the school's leaders.

On this occasion, the Military Telecommunications Company also presented gifts and scholarships to 8 students with the highest results in the university entrance exam to the school last year.
