Jubilant opening ceremony of the 2009-2010 school year

This morning, September 18, 2009, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2009-2010.

Attending and sharing joy with many generations of cadres, teachers, students and trainees of the University were Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang - Vice President of VNU - and representatives of leaders of many units inside and outside VNU.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal of the School - affirmed many achievements of the School in the past school year.

In the 2008-2009 school year, the school's training programs were carried out according to plan and achieved good quality. The content of the transition to credit-based training is being implemented relatively synchronously and comprehensively; the development of majors and expansion of training types are focused on such as dual degree training programs and international joint training programs in the form of "2+2"; the training methods of "3+1", "3.5+0.5", training according to government agreements, and short-term training are still maintained and expanded. This is also the first year the school has implemented enrollment and organized training in Linguistics according to international standards.

In postgraduate training, the scale and structure have developed and innovated. Specifically, the scale of postgraduate training has reached 26% compared to the total scale of regular training.

Student scientific research activities have also achieved very encouraging results. In 2008, at the Ministry of Education and Training level alone, there was 01 project winning First Prize, 01 project winning Second Prize, 01 project winning Third Prize, 03 projects winning Encouragement Prize; The school was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in the student scientific research movement.

Thanks to the above efforts of staff and students, at the end of the 2008-2009 school year, many emulation titles were recognized and awarded to groups and individuals in the school. In particular, the school had 4 groups and 3 individuals receiving Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 1 individual was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal, 2 groups and 6 individuals were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal. The school achieved the title of Excellent Labor Collective, was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training and was honored to receive the emulation flag and Certificate of Merit from VNU.

The opening ceremony was also an occasion to honor many individuals and collectives of the school's staff who had excellent achievements in the past school year with many medals and certificates of merit at all levels. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang - Vice President of VNU - presented the Emulation Flag of VNU to representatives of the school's leaders.

Next, the school also announced the decision to reward 02 top students of group C and group D in the recent university entrance exam, reward 61 students of all courses with good and excellent academic results, 52 students who are class officers, union officers with good achievements in study and work, 49 students with achievements in overcoming difficulties in studying. On this occasion, the Military Telecommunications Company also presented gifts and scholarships to 8 students with the highest results in the university entrance exam to the school last year.

During the 2009-2010 school year, the School will focus on implementing the following key tasks:

• Strengthening the Board of Directors and organizing the departments and units according to the new term of the Principal; promoting and improving the quality of planning, training and fostering staff. Having specific plans and solutions to promote the implementation of projects on training and fostering young staff and leading staff.
• Continue to more widely implement credit-based training methods; expand the scale of high-quality training, international-level training and international cooperation; diversify training types, and train to meet social needs.
• Focusing intellectual resources to continue building and implementing major scientific tasks, key topics and projects in social sciences;
• Continue to implement administrative reforms; increase the application of information technology in management; find solutions to increase revenue, continue to expand the school's learning and working space, increase in-depth investment in facilities and equipment for teaching and learning...
