At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim introduced the training potential of the social sciences and humanities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general and the fields of Anthropology, History, Sociology in particular, etc. The Vice President said: The University is very interested in and focuses on investing in developing facilities for training and research in anthropology: Department of Anthropology, Museum of Anthropology and the Anthropology major of the Faculty of History to create favorable conditions for the development of Anthropology training.

To clarify the interest of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the issue of ethnology, Dr. Nguyen Van Suu added more about the ethnological research experiences of some professors and postgraduates of the Department of Anthropology on issues such as: Vietnamese folk art and culture, Vietnamese people abroad, etc.

Prof. Lenore Gallin shared some of her experiences in ethnographic research through her time participating in field research, directly meeting ethnic groups in South Africa, interviewing many Vietnamese women living and working in the United States, and visiting the White Thai ethnic group in Vietnam. According to her, there needs to be more in-depth research on ethnography to contribute more comprehensive and multi-dimensional perspectives. Through that, Prof. Lenore Gallin proposed future cooperation between the two schools: organizing field trips for students and faculty of Diablo Valley Community College to Vietnam to conduct joint research and exchange experiences on ethnic issues.
