During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim introduced the training potential of the social sciences and humanities at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general, and Anthropology, History, and Sociology in particular, etc. The Vice Rector stated that the university is very interested in and prioritizes investing in facilities to support training and research in anthropology: the Department of Anthropology, the Anthropology Museum, and the Anthropology specialization of the Faculty of History, creating favorable conditions for the development of anthropology training.

To further clarify the University of Social Sciences and Humanities' interest in ethnology, Dr. Nguyen Van Suu shared the research experiences of several professors and graduate students from the Department of Anthropology on topics such as Vietnamese folk art and culture, Vietnamese people abroad, etc.

Professor Lenore Gallin shared some of her ethnographic research experiences gained from fieldwork, direct encounters with ethnic groups in South Africa, interviews with many Vietnamese women living and working in the United States, and visits to the White Thai ethnic group in Vietnam. According to her, more in-depth ethnographic research is needed to contribute more comprehensive and multifaceted perspectives. Through this, Professor Lenore Gallin proposed future collaboration between the two universities: organizing field trips for students and faculty from Diablo Valley Community College to Vietnam to conduct joint research and exchange experiences on ethnic issues.
