Review of scientific tasks in 2014

On July 22, 2013, the Standing Committee of the Science and Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a meeting to review and approve the scientific tasks for 2014. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector, Chairman of the Council) chaired the meeting.

After discussion, the Standing Committee of the Science and Technology Council has made some conclusions about important tasks in the scientific activities of the School in 2014:

In addition to regular tasks, the University focuses on major tasks towards implementing the roadmap to build the University of Social Sciences and Humanities into a research university; building strong research groups to propose and implement major scientific programs, especially the Research Program on Positioning and Developing Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam, topics under the State-level key scientific program, independent State-level topics, topics under the Protocol, topics under NAFOSTED, topics of localities, especially Hanoi city and group A, B topics at VNU.

The school will focus on promoting the activities of the Policy Advisory Council, promptly organizing research and advising Party and State leaders on major strategic issues in the country's cultural, scientific and educational development policies and guidelines.

Focus on organizing 5 to 6 large scientific conferences, enhancing the integration of research with training, and organizing scientific conferences for young staff and postgraduate students. The grassroots topic system will be implemented with priority given to young staff who are doing their theses and dissertations.

The Standing Committee of the Science and Technology Council also had specific conclusions on the implementation of scientific seminars and grassroots topics in 2014. Accordingly, the University directly directed the organization of 6 major seminars/forums on: Vietnam - France relations after the Dien Bien Phu event; Vietnamese immigrant literature from 1975 to present; Assessment of the current status of human resources in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam; coordinated with the Vietnam Film Institute and a number of regional universities to organize the seminar "Contemporary Asian cinema from the perspective of author theory"; coordinated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City to organize the seminar on the East Sea; organized the Forum of Rectors of universities in the Red River basin on the topic of responding to climate change and water resources.

The Standing Committee of the Science and Technology Council also approved 25 grassroots topics proposed by individuals and units.
