Meeting with the delegation of Deakin University (Australia)

On October 12th, 2019, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and representatives of the School of Journalism and Communication and Office for Cooperation and Development had a work meeting with the delegation of Deakin University (Australia) led by Prof. Michael James Knopp (Faculty of Arts and Education).

At the meeting, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh introduced about USSH - a crucial member of the VNU Hanoi system. Initially starting with the basic sciences, USSH later developed other majors of high applicability to meet demands from the society. As for international cooperation, the University has formed relations with over 400 foreign partners. It is hoped that USSH will soon sign an official MOU with Deakin University to carry out such activities as exchanging students and lecturers, conducting joint research projects and co-holding international conferences.

On behalf of Deakin University, Prof.Micheal James Knopp expressed his appreciation for the warm reception by USSH. He said the School of Communication and Creative Arts of Faculty of Arts and Education currently offers some relevant programs such as the Bachelor's program in Communication. The School has modern infrastructure and resources such as motion-capture devices, digital image processors, film and television production equipment and news room. In Vietnam, since 2010, the Faculty has been implementing the 2+2 joint Bachelor's program in Journalism with USSH, VNU Ho Chi Minh. As such, USSH, VNU Hanoi can develop the same cooperative project with Deakin University. 

Founded in 1974 with 4 campuses in Victoria, Deakin University is one the largest public universities in Australia. Its main campus is located in Burwood. It has four faculties: Faculty of Arts and Education; Faculty of Business and Law; Faculty of Health; Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment. It currently has around 60.000 students. In 2019, it is ranked 309 by QS World and 19 by QS National. Deakin is also recognized for its flexible courses, allowing students to study at the campus, at home, online or at work.
