On November 29th, 2019, USSH's Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan welcomed and worked with Prof. Philippe Papin (Faculty of History and Texts - École pratique des hautes études), Director of Project Vietnamica sponsored by the European Union (2019-2024). Participating in the meeting were representatives of Faculty of Literature, Faculty of History, Office for Cooperation and Development and contestants of the postgraduate scholarship program under Vietnamica.

At the meeting, the experts listened to the contestants presenting about their research projects, which focus on three main areas: Sino-Nom, History and Archaeology. Using the stele inscriptions (especially bia hậu - a kind of commemorative stele) in the 15th-19th centuries, the contestants will compile their master's and doctoral theses and dissertations on different topics: ancient fine arts, ancient languages, history, etc. These studies when finished will be synthesized into complete scientific texts to be published in the works under Project Vietnamica.

As planned, in the academic year 2019-2020, 3 master's scholarships (1-year) and 1 doctoral scholarship (3-year) will be granted to the master's and doctoral candidates of the University with excellent projects, the interest in their majors and commitment to creating final scientific products. The candidates are expected to be an important human resource for the maintenance and promotion of the basic sciences in Vietnam.
