Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien, President of the Vietnam-America Friendship Association emphasized the role of this roundtable: “The Vietnam-USA relations have entered a period where more actions are needed for the future generations of the two countries. The youth should not forget the history but also should evade repeating the same history”.
In response, Mr. Ted Anthony, Director of AP in the Asia-Pacific, expressed his agreement with the meaning with this roundtable. It was important in promoting the exchanges between journalists, especially young journalists, on their professional experiences, which greatly helped to improve the understanding between the peoples.
Also at this roundtable, Mr. Ha Minh Hue, vice permanent President of the Vietnamese Association of Journalists, highly appreciated the contribution of journalism and AP in reporting the war in Vietnam and the late Vietnam-USA friendly relations.
The roundtable was also an opportunity for the youth to have a look at the past. The whole audiences were moved by the Vietnam War photos taken by Nick Ut and the sad and touching stories in Vietnam.
At the end of the roundtable, Vu Huyen, Former permanent vice president of the Vietnamese Association of Photographers, presented to AP’s representatives three collections of photos about the war and Vietnamese people taken by Vietnamese photographers.
