11. Summary ofnew resultsof the thesis:
* In theory
- On the basis of inheriting and systematizing theoretical issues from domestic and foreign research works, the thesis builds the concept of Family Value Orientation of Youth and expresses it in 5 aspects: Marriage; Childbearing and raising children; Parent-child relationship; Gender role; Responsibility in the family.
* In practice
- In general, young people in this study tend to combine tradition and modernity in family value orientation.
- Young people tend to be more open and inclined towards modern values in value orientation related to having children and raising and caring for children.
- In their relationship with their parents, young people demonstrate a traditional view that most show respect for their parents and agree that they should follow their parents' guidance and opinions in all matters of life.
- Regarding gender roles in the family, the survey with the target group showed the tendency to choose very modern values in the family value orientation of young people: both men and women need to have equal responsibility and decision-making power with family work.
- Regarding the responsibilities of family members, there is a tendency to preserve traditional values in the family value orientation of young people: filial piety is still a value that young people value.
- The results of comparing the differences in family value orientation in the aspects of expression in each group of demographic variables have outlined the potential impact of these variables on the family value orientation of young people. In particular, young women in the study tend to proactively accept changes in the direction of personal family values more than young men.
- The difference of the thesis compared to previous studies is that it focuses on studying the orientation of young people in choosing family values that suit them based on quantitative and qualitative data, thereby proposing measures to orient family values suitable for young people.
12. Practical applicability: From the research results, the thesis has proposed a number of measures for young people to have family value orientation in accordance with social requirements and practices as follows:
- For young people themselves: Self-cultivation, raising awareness of the psychological characteristics of young people and the importance of value orientation in general and family value orientation of young people; Coordinate with family, school and community to effectively carry out family value orientation activities for themselves.
- For families: Raising awareness among family members about the psychological characteristics of young people; orienting family values of young people; the importance of educating family values for young people in general and educating family values in particular; Building a healthy family culture, using methods of educating values, orienting family values scientifically, suitable for the psychological characteristics of young people; Coordinating with schools and the community to effectively carry out activities of orienting family values for young people.
- For schools: Raising awareness for teachers, parents and social forces about the psychological and physiological characteristics of young people; family value orientation of young people and the necessity of family value education and family value orientation education for young people; Strengthening coordination between schools, families and society in family value education and family value orientation activities for young people; Training teachers on how to organize value education and value orientation suitable to the psychological and physiological characteristics of young people; Educating skills in value orientation in general and family value orientation for young people.
- For society: Ensure the unity, effectiveness and strictness of the legal system on family, youth and value education for youth; Innovate the dissemination and education of laws on family, youth and value orientation for youth.
13. Further research directions
- Longitudinal and cross-cultural research on youth family value orientation is a further prospect with the aim of examining and comparing changes in family value orientation over time, space, and different cultural contexts of people.
- Exploiting qualitative research methods such as case studies and focus group discussions in depth, can explore different ideas from young people, as through this, young people have more opportunities to express their opinions and views. It is expected that this can lead to more representative and complete results.
- Research on factors influencing (subjective and objective) the family value orientation of young people.
- Empirical research on family value orientation measures for youth also suggests applicable results.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- On the basis of continuity, theoretical issues that were systematized from the studies conducted in Vietnam and in the world, the thesis defines the concept of family value orientation of youth and its manifestations in 5 aspects: marriage in family; giving birth and child rearing; parent-child relationships; gender role in the family; family responsibility.
- In general, young people in this study have a tendency to combine traditional with modern elements in family value orientation.
- Young people tend to be open-minded, favoring modern values more than value orientation related to giving birth and child rearing.
- In the relationship with parents, young people tend to follow traditional values, of which respects of the parents and conformor obey parent's instructions and parent's ideas in every issue of the life.
- In regard to gender roles in family, the study participants tend to adopt quite modern values orientation according to which men and women share the same rights and responsibility in making family related decisions.
- With regard to the responsibility of family members, young people tend to maintain the traditional values: Filial piety is still a highly valued.
- Differences in family value orientation as expressed in varied aspects by demographic variables were identified. Young men interviewed tend to accept changes towards individualisticfamily value orientation more than young women.
- The different points of the findings as compared with the previous studies are the focus on the youth's selection of family value orientations, obtained from a combination of quantitative and qualitative data
12. Practical applicability
From the research results, the thesis proposes some solutions to youngpeople in their family value orientation as required by social practice
- For young people: self-improving, raising awareness of the bio-psychological characteristics of youth and the importance of the value orientation in general and the family value orientation in particular; Young people and amilies, schools and communities need to work together in providing family value orientation activities for themselves.
- For families: raising awareness for family members about psychological characteristics in youth; family value orientation of young people; the importance of family values education in general and family value orientation in particular; building a healthy family's culture, using these valuable educational methods.
- For schools: raising awareness for teachers, parents and other social forces of the youth's developmental characteristics; family value orientation of young people and the significance of family value orientation education and education family values for youth. Strengthening co-ordination between schools, families and society in educating family values, orienting family values for them.
- For society: ensuring the consistency, validity, and strictness of the law system in the family about youth and bringing up the values for young generation; innovative strategies, ways to approach the problems, educating young people in family-related laws, and orienting the values for young people.
13. Future research directions:
- Vertical research and cross-cultural research are about orienting the value of youth's, being a next prospect with considerable purposes, comparing the changes of family values orientation, and cultural context of human being.
- The in-depth exploration of qualitative research such as case study and group discussion, which can explore these different ideas from those, who have more opportunity to express their opinions and ideas. It is expected that this may lead to results that represent Vietnam.
- Investigating factors (subjective and objective) that influence youth's family-oriented values.
- Experimental study about family value -oriented measures and application for young people.
