        First, this is the first work in Vietnam to research the topic of American cultural diplomacy in the period 2001-2016. The work hopes to contribute a new perspective and a system of documents on how the United States uses and deploys cultural tools to achieve the goal of enhancing the image of the United States. This is of particular importance in the context of the current struggle for influence and interests using cultural tools among regional powers in the post-Cold War era.

MondayIn terms of theory, the thesis contributes some theoretical bases on aspects of cultural diplomacy in general with many different aspects such as concepts, theoretical bases, relationships with political diplomacy and economic diplomacy.

Tuesday, the thesis also discusses the analysis of aspects of US cultural diplomacy to draw some recommendations for promoting the relationship between Vietnam - US, including the cultural relationship between the two countries. In addition, this thesis studies the increase of soft power through cultural diplomacy, thereby helping Vietnam draw important lessons to increase Vietnam's cultural soft power.
