The thesis has systematized relevant research works on border markets. Based on that, the thesis has inherited, refined, and supplemented previous studies.
Theoretically, the thesis has preliminarily systematized theoretical issues concerning border regions from a political-ethnographic perspective, approaching border markets from the perspectives of social space theory and social networks.
This thesis has studied the characteristics of markets in the Vietnam-China border region from 1990 to the present.
This thesis clarifies the socio-economic interactions, exchanges, and interactions of ethnic groups in border markets and the role of markets in the livelihoods of ethnic groups in the Vietnam-China border region from 1990 to the present.
This thesis analyzes the impacts of market trading and socio-cultural activities on the lives of local ethnic minorities, as well as the effectiveness and limitations of border region development policies, particularly trade development policies in the Vietnam-China border region from 1990 to the present.
12. Practical applications (if any):
The research findings of this thesis are intended as a reference for undergraduate students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates in Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Sociology, and other related fields.
This thesis clarifies the function and role of border markets in the lives of ethnic groups along the Vietnam-China border from 1990 to the present. It is also a useful reference document for managers and policymakers at the central and local levels.

The thesis has clarified socio-economic interactions and exchanges of the ethnics in Vietnam-China border markets. Also, the role of these markets in livelihoods of ethnic groups in the Vietnam-China border areas from 1990 to present has been demonstrated.
The thesis has analyzed effects of trade and cultural - social activities in border markets on the life of local ethnic areas, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of border development policies in Vietnam - China border areas, especially from 1990 to present.
