1. Purpose and research objects of the thesis
1.1 Research purpose
The research of the Thesis aims to clarify the relationship between values and pro-social behavior of young people in the context of Vietnam, to see which values (or groups of values) are promoting or hindering the implementation of pro-social behavior of young people and whether this influence is influenced by any other factors. At the same time, the research of the Thesis also aims to verify the previous conclusions and theories about the relationship between values and pro-social behavior.
1.2. Research subjects
The relationship between values and pro-social behavior of young people, specifically: the correlation between values and pro-social behavior; the relationship of influence of values on pro-social behavior of young people directly and indirectly through intermediate and moderating variables.
2. Research methods used
The thesis uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods including: Document research method; Expert opinion method; Questionnaire investigation method; In-depth interview method; Data processing method using mathematical statistics; Typical psychological portrait analysis method.
3. Main results and conclusions
3.1. Main results
- Today's youth value the following values most: Personal safety; Trust; Fairness, equality; Care; Self-control in thinking. Youth perform pro-social behaviors at an average level. The group of behaviors that comply with the law is performed at the highest level by youth and the group of charitable behaviors is performed at the lowest level.
- The values Tolerance; Universality of Nature; Caring; Tradition and Humility are most strongly correlated with pro-social behavior.
- The values of Tolerance; Natural Universality; Humility; Social Security; Tradition; Achievement and Stimulation, Exploration are likely to predict/promote pro-social behavior.
- In the process of values guiding and orienting pro-social behavior, there are many psychological and social variables, both subjective and objective, that can affect this relationship as mediating variables (Attitude to help others; Effective Self) or as moderating variables (Gender; living area; youth; age; religion; Empathy; Attitude to help others; Effective Self and Self-control).
3.2. Conclusion
- The thesis has made certain contributions to the theoretical basis of the research problem. Some international scales have also been adapted to the Vietnamese youth population and have given initial results of interest.
- The thesis has also built a theoretical framework to analyze the relationship between values and pro-social behavior of young people, contributing more knowledge and understanding to this field of research, which is not new in the world but quite new in Vietnam.
- The research results of the Thesis can be applied in the development of contents and programs for educating values and positive behaviors for young people.

At the same time, the study of the thesis also aims to verify previous conclusions and theories about the relationship between values and prosocial behavior.

The relationship between values and prosocial behavior among youth: the correlation between values and behaviors favoring society; the relationship of value to the youth's prosocial behavior directly and indirectly through intermediary and regulatory variables.
2. Research methods
The thesis uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods including: documentary research methods; Method of obtaining expert opinion; Questionnaire survey method; In-depth interviews; Method of data processing by mathematical statistics; Typical psychological portrayal methods.
3. Major results and conclusions
3.1. Major results
- Young people now value the most: Personal security; Dependability; Concern; Caring and Self-Direction in thought. Young people perform moderate social support. The group of law respect behavior was at the highest level and the charity behavior was at the lowest level.
- Tolerence; Nature Universalism; Caring; Tradition and Humility are strongly correlated with prosocial behavior.
- Tolerence; Nature Universalism; Humility; Social security; Tradition; Achievement and Stimulation to predict/promote prosocial behavior.
- In the process of leading value and orientation for prosocial behavior, there are many psychological and social variables, both subjective and objective, which may influence this relationship as mediators variables (attitudes to help others, Self-Efficacy) or as moderators variables (Sex, area, youth, age, religion, empathy, attitudes helping others; self-efficacy and self-control).
3.2. Conclusion
- The thesis has made certain contributions to the theoretical basis of the research problem. Some international scales have also been adapted on the Vietnamese youth and have given initial results of interest.
- The thesis also builds a theoretical framework for analyzing the relationship between values and behaviors of prosocial behavior among youth, contributing more knowledge and understanding of the research field but is not new in the world but quite new in this country.
